Love This. Not for Surgery.
Hey-- I resisted getting a "scalpel" for years, but I finally relented when X-Acto blades became SO dull that a new blade could barely cut butter. So, I found these cheap blades and a spiffy handle on Amazon and I didn't look back. It works very well, and is actually a better design than the X-Acto, and, ultimately, the blades are razor sharp, and that's what counts. I use the scalpel for model building and it's perfect. Five stars for value.

Dermaplaning!
I used this for dermaplaning. Once I received this, I didn’t realize that the first blade wouldn’t be on there? It actually makes sense, since the blades are sterile. However, I realized I didn’t know how to put the blade in. YouTube helped. I cracked the first blade when putting it on the handle :/ the second blade was fine and I used for dermaplaning. That fuzz on my blue pajama pants is what came off my face after dermaplaning lol. I did accidentally cut my face a few times - the blade is sharp! Next time I’ll go with a blade with a curved tip rather than this straight tip - personal preference. Great bang for your buck. I previously used the Schick single blade straight edge razors for dermaplaning. I like this scalpel better, but for beginners I’d recommend the schick

Worked like a CHARM!
I HAD a badly infected sebaceous cyst in my left armpit (dark red/throbbing/extremely painful), and I didn't feel like paying $500 to a grand to have it removed (no insurance atm) so I went ahead and purchased this. I know it is not recommended to perform a "surgery" on yourself, but this truly made it a breeze! I cut a roughly one inch incision top to bottom through the cyst, and due to the extreme sharpness of this blade I didn't even feel it! I was able to COMPLETELY drain it, and now a couple of weeks later my armpit finally looks NORMAL again! No infection due to the blade being sterilized! I DO NOT recommend that anyone do what I did, but the quality of this scalpel and the blades is TOP NOTCH especially for the price!

Does the job
This works well for what I bought it for. I will probably invest in a a better quality one later for some of my leather work. But for light and easy work it is worth it.

Came as advertised
I used it to remove hemorrhoids from my cat, the cat didn't like it and now the cat never came back. So I guess it was a success!

Handle a mess
The blades are fine. The handle is a problem. Poorly manufactured, the blade doesn't fit easily or well into the slot. I use something like needle nose pliers to get the blade on the handle - I imagine doing it by hand without any tools could lead to some unfortunate accidents. Once I got the blade on, the blade wasn't straight and couldn't be straightened. This was the highest rated of scalpel handles for this size blade. Oh well.

Great for cutting leather for projects
Blades are dangerous to change and fairly flimsy. But other than that, once you get used to them, each one cuts leather for a long time. I use a pair of needle-nosed pliers to change the blades when one dulls or breaks, and also to install the new blade.
