Worked well, but takes about 3 days total
The media could not be loaded. Worked well. The crystals grew easily. BUT all in all this took 3 days total to complete. You need to procure a glass container (that you will not use again) with a lid, also the opening will need to be big enough to easily remove the object without knocking the crystals off (an emptied and washed out pickle jar works best). The kids loved the project but it was definitely a good amount more work than anticipated. I wish the description was a little clearer on how much work this is. Other than that it worked great!

Cool Toy but Expensive and Lots of Ingredients Required
My kids and I used some of our quarantine time to use the Klutz Grow Your Own Crytal Dragon kit and it was a cool family project! To keep my review succinct, this kit does exactly what's advertised - chiefly growing crystals. But it does require quite a few bits that aren't included in the package, and well, it's expensive for what you get.In more detail, to get started you'll need an impressive list of stuff (not included):>> 2 glass jars with lids>> Distilled water (1.25 cups at least)>> Masking tape>> Marker>> Measuring spoon>> Metal spoon>> ScissorsWe had most of this stuff on hand but ended up having to wait until we had two empty glass jars and purchased distilled water to start the project. The jars are used to make the seeding solution and the growing solution. The instructions are pretty clear and easy to follow and do a great job imparting a little science - for example, a small section about natural crystals and where they're found. The seeding solution jar is used to essentially coat the pipe cleaners that adorn the dragon figurine. You'll allow the pipe cleaners to dry and form the base for the crystal growth. The second jar has more solution and that's where the majority of crystal growth happens. This project doesn't have an immediate payoff but my kids were engaged and curious about it the entire time. Our dragon grew some impressive crystals too! And now my kids have a really cool crystal dragon to display!Recommended!

Kids loved it!
I ordered the Narwhal for my daughter and the dragon for my son. These were really cute. The instructions were easy to understand. We doubled the amounts and made everything together. These took a bit of time, but they ended up coming out really cute. The kids enjoyed measuring and placing the pipe cleaners. I didn't have any mason jars (guess I picked a bad time to clean out the cabinets…) so I used a glass Pyrex bowl. It worked fine, but it hasn't really come clean. I'm not sure how reusable it will be going forward. Guess it's now a crafting bowl LOL. Overall, these came out really cute. The kids are also really enjoying seeing what will and will not grow crystals with the extra solution. Lots of fun!

Science with a twist
My kindergartner and I enjoyed this project, I would say it is not my favorite project that I have created with him. The instructions, I wish they were more clear at the beginning, For example not stating there was a two-step process. Otherwise when we collected the ingredients, we did it all at once, not realizing that we needed to separate some. The dragon is smaller than I anticipated, but still fun.The positives of the project are my son truly enjoyed seeing the crystals come to life on the Dragon. He enjoyed learning about the process between the two and understanding how the two steps make crystals.Realistically, I think this would be a great gift for birthday parties. It provides education, creativity, science and the kids enjoy it.

Crystal growing kits can be tricky, but this one seems ok
This is a simple little set with small pre-made dragon and the ingredients to grow crystals on it.You will need your own container to do the project in.The crystals actually grew just fine, which is not always assured with kits like this.A fun way to introduce the science of crystal growth to young hands and minds.Good quality instructions and materials.
