Mellow
Finally opened this coffee this week after buying it in August. The two previous McCafe grounds I bought were medium roasts so this was my first time at the light roast level. The flavour profile is very mellow/mild. There is less harshness and acidity than the medium roasts. The aromas on the nose is very fragant making the brew time one of great expectations.Highly recommend for those times when you want some coffee without the oomph!!

The price is too high for 6 bags
Why does it cost more when you buy 6 bags ? it’s over $14.00 a bag when you buy 6 . It’s a little over $9.00 a bag when you buy a single bag . Someone’s math is all screwed up

Surprisingly robust & smooth American-style coffee. Very much like good Columbian
I consider myself an advanced amateur enthusiast. I have spent time on a Costa Rica coffee plantation and I seek out special varieties of Sumatra beans (Indonesian coffee). I attend cuppings (tate tests) with experts whenever I can.But offering an overall review of taste is more complicated than for some other foods. Like wine, coffee comes in many varieties. But unlike wine, there are many preparation techniques and consumer taste preferences tend to be all over the map. Some like dark roast, while others like blond or medium. (I like a medium roast, but brewed dark with extra grounds or the BOLD-pulsed setting). Then, there are issues of temperature, acidity, sweetness, etc. Sure—wines also exhibit a variety of characteristics and taste notes. But within a single variety (e.g. Cabernet Sauvignon), most individuals agree with a Sommelier on which is a fine wine and which taste like vinegar. So, for this review to be meaningful, I need to establish my general preference. If you agree with my definition of a great cup of coffee, then the rest of the review should give you a hint of this McCafe Premium Roast ground coffee…What I Look For1. I do not want espresso, cappuccino, milk, cream or flavors. Nothing more than a pure arabica bean coffee.2. I use a standard drip brew with standard temp of 190~200°F (88~93°C)3. I like a solid, western-style strength and flavor—just a tad richer or darker than average4. I want a strong coffee aroma to hit my nose before 1st sip, but cannot accept a burned-bean scentResults — TasteBoth McCafe Premium Roast and McCafe Columbian offer surprisingly great taste, decent body and fair aroma. I would prefer a slightly richer flavor and a more pronounced aroma. But the taste is delightful: smooth & complex, and the aroma is pretty good. Results — CostThe Amazon 6 bag price is an unusually good deal. At the time of my purchase, I paid less than 25c/oz for (6 x 12 oz). This wasn’t promoted as a special offer, but I have noticed that the price changes weekly. That is a deep discount over similar western-style arabica coffees.* The only other way to get this low price on a similar quality coffee is to buy a 40, 48 or 60 oz bag from a wholesale club with a coupon special.Comparable CoffeesI find these coffees to be fairly equivalent (assuming that they pass my taste test): Columbian, Costa Rica (esp. Tarrazu Volcano) and Sumatra. Look for a medium roast and use 30% more grounds than recommended. If the resulting bnrew flavor is not rich or dark enough for your taste (e.g. if you typically prefer dark roast), try the BOLD or pulsed setting on your brewer.Have you tried McCafe coffee in bags? Let me know what you think? Please add a reply to this review. I look forward to your comments!_____________* You can always get a low price on big cans of Folgers, Maxwell House or house brand coffee. But (a) This method of packaging results in horrid taste, and (b) These coffees are typically ground from robusta beans or a hybrid blend. There is simply no comparison with a quality arabica coffee.

This is the best coffee!!!!
This coffee is so wonderful.... I have tried many different brands of coffee and McCafe is by far the very best, so very smooth, a mildly rich flavor and at such a great price.

I bought this small bag because my big container went bad after a few weeks.I opened it this morning (took a day to deliver) and it smelt as bad as my expired one. Disappointed :(
