Great product. Arrived on time and works perfectly in a flush mount rod holder.

I used this unit in concert with the Scotty flyrod holder with the intent of placing it in my kayak's rod tube behind the cockpit for trolling. That arrangement simply does not work. First of all, you can't seen what's happening with the rod, and secondly, trying to reach around and retrieve the rod nearly cost me the loss of the holder and the rod. The gamble mount holder does not lock into the boat's rod tube and the flyrod holder doesn't lock into the gamble mount holder, so the whole setup is quite shaky. In the event of a "fish-on" situation, its nearly impossible to retrieve the rod without also handling the two holder components without losing the whole setup, and most importantly, losing the fish. Overall, not a good arrangement.

I use these scotty gimble mounts with 2 scotty 257 rod holder board and 4 scotty 229 power lock rod holders. Just got them and used them for the first time. They performed very well. Have no complaints.
