I'm glad I didn't pay attention to the detracting reviews on here. These are natural rugs and, yes, they've most likely been sitting in a warehouse rolled up being subjected to humidity fluxes so, yes, when you unroll it, it won't look great because the natural fibers have most likely contracted in places.It will have bumps and wrinkles in it that need to get taken care of. I think the company could have included some guidance on alleviating this but if you've ever owned a rug you'll know one simple trick to help flatten rugs: Get an iron, a damp towel and just iron it out. It took about an hour of stretching and ironing to finally relax the fibers in this to the point that it's flat. It looks great and was exactly what I wanted in my decor. As far as ease of cleaning, well, that's another issue but any thing made of a natural porous material will take some work to get stains out of it. That's not a manufacturing issue, it's just the nature of the beast. Please don't pay attention to the dum dums posting reviews on here, they've probably just never owned a rug before?

Bought this to go under our kitchen table and I love it! It really gave my kitchen the modern farmhouse look that I was looking for. Doesn’t shed and I’ve had it for more than a month now. Really happy with this rug!

Looks nice but doesn’t stay flat and when we vacuumed on medium setting it tore apart in 5 places

We have three kids and a dog and it seems to be holding up well. We did buy some very strong rug tape to hold it down!

We love the color variations. It is the second day and beginning to lay flat. I think I will spray it lightly with scotchgard to protect it although we do not wear shoes in our house. We are talking about ordering another one. Very happy so far.

I took the advice of one reviewer and flattened it with an iron. I’ve had other natural (sisal)rugs before but they shed like crazy once they start to deteriorate. Time will tell if jute is more durable. Another reviewer stated they vacuumed it on medium, probably with a beater bar (roller) which is a huge no no. One stray thread will be taken up by the roller and unravel the braiding. Simply use the floor piece of the vacuum (for bare floor) to vacuum any crumbs. It really is lovely with variegated colouring which will compliment many decors. Adds warmth with a relaxed feel. It has a natural, earthy scent to it out of the box which is much better than that chemical new car smell! Love it!
