Easy to use paint for great results
Very impressed with this paint. While not a trade paint, it's made by Tor Coatings (who I understand also make Frenchic furniture paints, plus the Zinsser range of specialist paints and primers), which inclined me towards it. The Rust Oleum range of colours is broader than other furniture paints, is available in a definite satin sheen and is also well-priced, so I gave it a crack on a pair of bedside chests of drawers. The can says you don't really need to sand down and the paint is self-priming. I have no reason to doubt this but I prefer not to risk it and as the units being painted were varnished pine, I sanded them down thoroughly, cleaned the dust off with meths and applied a layer of stain-blocking primer (Bedec All Prime, which was very easy to apply and flat off with sandpaper). The Rust Oleum is not a thick paint but has a lowish viscosity, making it easy to spread. For large surface, a quick wipe with a damp cloth before brushing it on helped it to flow even easier. This is very forgiving paint with a decent open time and wet edge meaning you can brush on and then lay off with plenty of time, which leaves a very good finish. I am as fussy as they come with brushmarks and I wouldn't say this was totally free of them but the paint levels off so we'll that it's hard to distinguish any from a short distance as they blend into the wood grain. Really impressed with it. Didn't use a roller but I imagine it wouldn't be too orange peely. Touching in over any patches is something you can likely get away with. There is no significant paint odour and it washes out very easily from synthetic brushes (I used Purdy Monarchs, which worked well).Drying time is quite quick; mostly touch dry in 30 minutes, recoat in 4 hours or a bit less if you're impatient. The coverage is good. I chose the Black Sand shade which is an off-black, deepest midnight blue. Two coats were enough to obliterate the mid-grey primer and it dried to a subtle sheen that was ideal and seems hard wearing. I gave a light sand with 320 grit between coats, which left very fine dust and a smooth surface. I have held off applying a varnish coat as the can says it doesn't need a lacquer seal, and I fear a satin finish varnish may be shinier than the current sheen level.Overall, this paint has exceeded expectations in colour, user friendliness and finish. Would certainly use it again.

Not durable but nice finish
Good colour and has a nice finish. I wouldn't use it on something that gets a lot of ware. Already had to touch up a few spots. But overall happy with it

Excellent paint
I bought this to up-cycle some pine furniture which I had prepared by sanding. It goes on a treat, covers well and the colour looks great. Recommended.

Beautiful colour
Initially was concerned this was a little too much purple hue but dried a much nicer dark brown/black with a slight purple hue. Used the clear wax to seal.

Nice paint to paint with, goes on well and dries great. Will defo use this rather than chalk paint and top coat in future

Not great
Prepared the surface properly for painting, sanding, cleaning etc, it took 5 coats to get any decent coverage. I wouldn't buy this paint again. Was a lovely colour though (eventually).
