Design House 516732 Monterey Industrial Modern 1-Light Indoor/Outdoor Wall Mount with Metal Shade in Oil Rubbed Bronze for Porch Entryway Barn

Design House just makes a superior product. This is my third purchase of the same fixture for a different location. I purchased the first about 9 years ago and it ages beautifully. The patina is wonderful and there is no sign of any corrosion. It operates perfectly. Well worth the money.

This lamp met my expectations. An electrician changed out my old, dated lamp for this new one. I like the design because it is simple, elegant, but not too fancy. I like that there is no glass or too many unnecessary features. The top is sturdy enough to take snowfall off my roof. But the underside is open for easy light bulb changing. Right now we have a low brightness lightbulb that gives a warm glow to the outside of the porch. It is most decorative because another light inside the porch interior already gives a brightness to the porch. The purpose of this lamp for me was to set the tone for a pleasant view as you come into the house (because the old lamp was an eyesore).I also like the large size of the lamp. Although I was not able to find exact matching fixtures in a smaller size for the back porch where there wasn't room for the large one, I did find a very similar style at my local store.Overall five stars because it is nice looking, sturdy, and came well packaged at a good price.

Easy to install. Note that this installs against a WALL, not just an electrical box. We have a box sticking out from the wall, and I had to rig it so that it would hang level. The wall sconce part is much larger than a 4 inch electrical box. It is installed though, and we like how it looks. We used a Sentexin LED light with an infrared sensor, so it turns on when someone is near. Very convenient!

For the few people who have actually heard of the Dark Sky Project, this lamp is a good one. No light pollution shining up into the sky, helping preserve the dark sky so that stars and planets are visible. Practically no one these days remembers sitting out in their yard, as I did as a child, watching meteorites fall through the atmosphere. There are always several per hour, and those of us in our yards would yell a warning to the others "look over there!" when we saw one. If you haven't already, please consider removing those horrible garage door lights that shine right into yours and your neighbor's eyes and pollute the night sky, and talk to your power company about replacing their awful street lights with those that are Dark Sky compliant. Use Google and look up the Dark Sky Project and read up on it. Good info. Show your children what stars look like.

Very pleased with our 'Monterey' wall light, which now illuminates our guest-bathroom as part of a rehab. We had a three-light fixture but realized later that it would require moving the junction box. We were done with the drywall work and did not start sawing and patching again. So with company coming, we picked an affordable industrial-style light, via Prime. Ordered on a Saturday evening, we had it Monday afternoon. Within minutes, we connected the wires, mounted it on pre-existing outline and had it shining. Looks good!

Paint fades and it doesn't look good. Also very subject to the wind turning it sideways.

This outdoor light fixture is great. It is good looking-just as pictured, extremely easy to install, and does just what it is supposed to-directs the light downward and not adding more light to the sky. I put a low wattage, dusk to dawn cfl bulb in it and it lights the area I want lit for security and is very nice to come home to at night. Would like to see more selection of these dark sky/neighbor friendly light fixtures for people to choose from. Keep the light from polluting the sky and maybe one day we can see more of the stars again!

These lights work well for our garage and give it a classic farmhouse look. They are a great size and the color matches the oil rubbed bronze spray paint we used elsewhere, and I think they add so much aesthetically. I was a little worried the light wouldn't reach very far with these dark sky lights, but it shines much farther than I expected. The white on the inside doesn't bother me, but here's a picture so you know what to expect. Very happy with these overall.
