Kohler 8 Gallon Tall Hands-Free Kitchen Step Can, Trash Can with Foot Pedal, Quiet-Close Lid, Stainless Steel, K-20941-ST

I like th stainless steel finish on this garbage can. It matches our applicances in the kitchen. Hard to get the bag to fit without hanging outside the lid but I am getting the trick behind that. I would recommend it.

For years, I'd been using an ancient plastic trash can in my kitchen, and finally found this beautiful, well-built, stainless steel Kohler trash can that fits like it was made for the small space in my kitchen. I love the gently self-closing lid and the fact that the bin can be removed and cleaned. I only wish there were clearer instructions about how to raise the lid all the way up to access the bin. I didn't know it needed quite as much of a push to lift the lid housing, and i was afraid it might break if I pushed too hard. It won't. Another drawback is that it's a little tricky to get your trash bag to wrap up and over the top of the bin as you lower it into the can. Still not worth taking any stars off my review. I love the appearance and function of this trash can.

There's nothing in the specs that states that there are two holes near the bottom. We wanted to use this for kitchen waste headed for the compost, and the first time I added fluids to it, it leaked all over the kitchen floor.Other than that, it's fine.

We bought two of these cans, one stainless for trash, and one black stainless for recycling. We favor clean, simple design, and these fit beautifully into our updated mid-century modern home. The foot pedals work perfectly, and the soft close feature is a plus. In my experience, no stainless steel is entirely smudge or fingerprint proof, and these are no exception, but they are much easier to wipe clean than most similar finishes and certainly don’t require polishing. They removable inner cans are great for keeping the units clean, though it is a bit of a challenge at first to get bags fixed in place without them sticking out the edges of the lid, which defeats the purpose of the lovely design. I like to pull the bags tight and tie them on one side (see pic); If you slide them in carefully, it is not hard to keep them in place once you get the hang of it. Despite being advertised as 8 gallons, they take a 13 gallon standard tall kitchen trash bag perfectly. Despite the higher initial cost of the trash cans, I chose these over a similar Simple Human model precisely because they fit a standard (and cheap) bag. I also considered all-in-one trash and recycling models, but almost all of them, regardless of brand, required odd-sized bags. Most also had a small recycling compartment next to a larger trash compartment. We tend to recycle a lot, so two good-sized units was just a better choice for us. Shipping was fast and both cans arrived well-packed and undamaged. I highly recommend these beautiful and functional Kohler trash cans.

I bought this trash can because it opens up flat, nothing to bang into the wall behind it. It's sleek, it looks nice, it closes firmly so no odors can escape. My only complaint about it is it's price; I bought essentially the same Kohler trash can only bigger at a big warehouse store for literally half the price. While I love the can, I don't think it's worth what I paid for it. I marked it down one star because of the price, and also because it's a little tricky to get a trash can liner in it in such a way that you do't see it when the can is closed.

Fits perfectly in the only logical spot in our kitchen which is a main traffic area! Narrow but roomy enough to hold a good amount! By the time it is full, it should have been taken out anyway!

I received a damaged can, with a clear dent on bottom left corner in the back. Got a replacement and this time the lid was too loose and not at all quiet closing. Highly disappointed that I have to return both. Because I know its a very good product.

This garbage can looks & works great. However, it arrived with some damage to the underside & a small piece of plastic was broken completely off. Because the damage didn't affect the overall performance, I decided to keep it, but it was still disappointing to receive something that was damaged.
