One of the best products I have ever used!
I am a consumer that is hard to please, yet not unrealistic about things like performance or the "idiot factor" of products. I really did not know what to expect after reading some of the reviews of this paint, but when I tried it, I was amazed. I ordered the "dark brown" color and it is a stunning rich brown with a nice low sheen. What some people are complaining about is what makes this product great, that it is sticky and thick and it works. I have painted and repainted (including sanding) my front door more then 5 times with crappy results. I have a metal front door with glass and for some reason, the trim piece that connects the glass to the door is plastic so no matter what paint I used (spray paint, regular paint etc) nothing would stick to this part of the door. Furthermore, on the metal door itself the previous paint jobs I have done have not lasted more then one winter as the paint has gotten dinged and scratched. I have many dogs that live inside and they love to look outside the window and scratch my door and the paint is never durable enough to stand up to their little excited paws. This paint is amazing! It works and gosh does it stick (even to the dreaded plastic parts of my door). Again, there are some people that can't wrap their mind around a product that is different from the average paint and these people are the ones giving it bad reviews, but if you can follow directions and have patience this product is amazing. I used this both on my metal door and the wood frame with excellent results. To be honest, the only thing I did different compared to regular paint is be more careful and faster since it dries really fast. The paint is sticky, but that is why it works so well and has been the only thing that has worked for my door. Overall, this product is one of the best products I have found for home improvement.

Good Paint, Must Ventilate
Good door paint.. Heavy smell though. Must ventilate while using and also the first 24 hours, paint will give off fumes while curing.

HVLP paint tips
So I painted with my harbor freight spray gun and and had some issues but am really happy with end result. The end result is a bit textured I believe it is due to sprayer settings but I actually like it. My hvlp gun has both a 1.4 and 1.8 tip I used the 1.8. fully open with 30 psi and strained paint with a strainer. It never clogged or spit or ran on the door but I think the pressure should have been stronger and more thinned with mineral spirits because it came out very slowly and dried almost instantly causing me to go down the door with slow passes back up and then down again about 4 times per coat and I did three coats 15 minutes apart. To better paint I removed it and leaned it on a ladder and removed hardware. I ended up using a third of the paint so theirs plenty. In the end slow and repetitive coats worked well. I took a picture and realized my image was lighter then the actual door so I color corrected it to match the door so this picture matches the true color. This may be why some people have lighter images but it is truly a rich cranberry color.

Great paint, finish not the best
There's a trade off with this paint. coverage is great, finish not the best but, dries in 2 hrs allowing you to close your doors for the night. Absolutely no problem to use, and did not stick to my magnetic door stops.

Worked just fine in spite of the bad reviews
Paint arrived quickly. I bought the quart size. It took 5 minutes to stir the paint. It was well settled on the bottom. I used a roller to apply (just as the can directions suggested) to a metal door. The door was sanded with 2000 grit sandpaper then cleaned with paint thinner. It dries quickly less than 1 hour. I got a great result. A nice smooth stain finish. No runs nor sages. This is very thick paint and filled in scratches very well. Clean up is tough, you have to use mineral sprites or paint thinner. I recommend this paint it is olde schooling painting. You need good prep and you need to follow label instructions. I am happy with my results.

Like painting with liquid moth balls
In the can its a liquid but on the brush its like Elmers glue even with a bit of thinner added. Have to keep a wet line or the paint gets sticky. The VOC in this paint is overwhelming to the point of collapse. Have a fan blowing or you will get dizzy and potentially pass out from the fumes this paint gives off even outside! After an hour I was done and started getting sick to my stomach and eyes blurry. Covers great and sticks to your skin like crazy glue. Use a cheap brush and let it sit in turpentine if you plan on using it for a 2nd coat like I did.

I really like this paint
I really like this paint. It is oil based and can be messy, but I think it looks great!! It came sealed and packaged well and is a rich cranberry color. the paint does have a strong odor since it is oil based. I would recommend using it when you can have your windows open for a while to air it out a bit. It dries very very quickly. I was covering a white door and I did 3 coats of paint in the same day. I would recommend using a good paint brush, the first one I had was a budget one and the paint is rather sticky and the bristles were pulling out on the door...I quickly got a better brush and continued with no problems. Be sure and put down newspaper or some type of covering as it is thin and will drip. I used light vinyl gloves which kept me from having to clean it off my hands. I would definitely buy again!!

Looked great but really weird paint
We have used oil paint before. This stuff is weird. My wife said it feels like nail polish. Smell is intense, make sure your outside. Very tricky to go on. Directions say its safe to handle in a few hours which I would not do. It left finger prints when I attached it back to the door. That could be my fault with environmental conditions, easy fix with sandpaper and 2nd application. The black color is stunning, it is a real statement on my home. We are not new to painting but it was tough to get clean results. We have another door that we want to paint. I have half a can left, though we're thinking of trying something else.
