I used to be an avid Gardner but as years have passed, I am now riddled with arthritis.Mornings I can barely lift a cup to my mouth for pain. This product makes me SO HAPPY. I can garden at my workbench. Sounds crazy but...lugging heavy sacks of potting soil is now almost impossible for me. Asking for help to carry from the car to my backyard takes 3 or 4 days as busy as my wonderful neighbors are with daily life. (My Mustang was stinky but smelled so good cause I missed it? )Now i am trying-my-hand at starting & germinating seeds and giving the beautiful young plants to family and friends. Thanks for your wonderful product and a renewed sense of joy. Arthritis Approved.

Doesn't get any easier than this.
It doesn't get any simpler than this. You literally just stick a disk in a big bowl, and pour 2 cups of water over it. 15 minutes later, it's all magically poofed up, and you just have to fluff it up a little with a spoon or your hands. Obviously, it makes a huge amount of "soil," especially if you're like me, and only using it for growing small pots of cat grass every week or two. So I just put it all in a big tupperware or empty Cool Whip tub, then I store the damp "soil" in my freezer, just so it doesn't accidentally get mold or spores or god knows what. When I need a little bit, I just let the tub defrost for a few minutes, until I can scoop out what I need.I can vouch for the success in the context of cat grass. I've gone through 3 disks already. Word to the wise, just make the whole disk at once. Don't do what I did the first time, and try to make half a disk by cutting it. I *DID* cut it, but only after about 15 minutes of sawing. It's tough stuff. They should build Fort Knox out of coconut fiber.

Great deal, you get ALOT of product!
I bought this because it was way cheaper and a better deal than the organic coconut soil I buy for growing cat grass. If you’ve ever grown grass for your cat indoors, you know that it’s a constant process. You grow it, it takes about 3-4 days to grow, it lasts only about a week or two, then it dies, then you have to grow it again. If you are not a cat person, just know, we are not crazy. Indoor cats LOVE nibbling on grass. If you have bought the coconut soil discs that are specifically for cat grass, you know it’s very good, but pricy. These discs are about twice the size of the mini soil discs you get with the other company. In one of my pics you can see the box comparison. I was planning on cutting these soil discs in quarters because they are so much bigger, and just using a little at a time. But they are rock solid and impossible to cut. So I had to just moisten the whole thing at once. They give you 1 plastic bag inside to do this. Super simple. Just add warm water and watch it grow. I was left with WAY too much soil than I needed, so I put the rest in the freezer in the bag and took out more as needed. I put the excess moistened soil in the freezer because otherwise I figured it would grow mold inside the bag. Seemed to work perfectly freezing it and thawing it later.Very good product and very good deal. It does make a mess, but since it’s made from coconut shells and it’s not really dirt, I don’t worry about it getting all over the counter.I would recommend these to everyone. Whether you’re growing cat grass or something else, this is a very good product.

Good solution for indoor planting and easy of storage until needed.
Nice, works well. Easy to use. Mixing bag very useful. My plants love it....but unfortunately so do gnats and or fruit flies! It makes a prime breeding material for them anytime there is ANY water added. They lay eggs and hatch and eat the roots of your plants. I'm trying to grow organic herbs and do not want to add pesticides. It is a work in progress for me to get rid of them. I may have to start over and wait for cooler weather when we have no gnats, because they find a way inside. BUT there are plenty of pods left as it once hydrated make a lot of soil to use. I do add fertilizer to it as it has no nutrients. If you don't have to deal with gnats or fruit flies this is a great way to good. For someone who is disabled and can't go shopping to buy potting soil and don't want to pay the shipping weight for regular soil, this is a wonderful solution. Packaging was good and came on time.

Attracts Fungus Gnats
Okay, so the product itself is pretty cool. It is packaged cool. It expands easily and my plants seem to like it.What they don’t tell you though, is about the fungus gnats. Fungus gnats LOVE this soul. They’re quickly attracted to it, they nest easily in it, and reproduce super fast under these conditions.DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT ON LARGE PALMS and even in small quantities the plants with this soul are the only ones with a gnat problem. The infestation on my majesty palm was HORRIFIC. I blamed the palm and then in researching how to take out these tiny a-holes I came across several articles that explained how they super like coconut husk soils. So now I’ve spent a ton of money on yellow sticky things and bottles of hydrogen peroxide (murders the larvae without hurting the plant) and beneficial microbes (because the hydrogen peroxide murders them too) and peat eating nematodes (to eat future gnats as they nest but after the murder part of the peroxide has broken down into oxygen and water) and I’ll soon be getting glass top soil (it makes it harder for them to nest and also for them to escape the soil and continue their lifecycle if they manage to somehow nest)... it’s a whole thing. The only plants with a gnat problem are the ones with this soil. I know. I put sticky traps in all of them. I have dozens of plants but literally three of them with this soil have caused a house wide infestation. It’s been months and I’m still not gnat free but they’re under control and everywhere although I’d really love to stop having sticky things with dead gnats all over my house.
