A portable resource of adequate proportion.
As with many such books there are maps, reviews of eateries and places to see and stay, bug there is no enduring truth to these books. Comparing them side to side the included hostelries and restaurants vary widely and reviews also differ when places are seen in common. Which book might be most accurate? Besides the subjectivity of the query I would not have the expertise to state. Yet clearly one book must be more correct than another, at least in regards to its choices of a region's selections In the whole or in the particulars of its ratings of food, sites and places to stay. Multiple books with differing reviews cannot all be correct! Most of these works are handy during a trip and outdated in a few years. At least this work is small and I has a bookmark. It is serviceable, but forgettable. Unlike some others it has rather fewer and smaller illustrations.

Like having Google in a pocket, without having Google track your data.
Everything you need to know about what to see in SF without having to depend on downloaded content. Recommend these in place of travel applications whenever possible.

This book is not only a cool secret and useful guide but also makes a great gift for visitors to San Francisco. Even if you have an iPhone the maps are great.

The little black book of San Francisco.
The book is divided up into areas which is very helpful. The fold out maps are OK the street names are not that difficult to read but the numbers in the highlighted squares are very small and hard to read. The transportation map is really useless because of this. There is a good index at the back. The book is small so can be carried in a purse or backpack. Spiral bound so if you are a traveller who likes to tear areas of interest out of guide books this one won't fall apart if you do. Would I buy other guide books in this series based on the SF one probably not.
