yeast is close to best used by date (which means it was on sellers shelf for over 2 years)
Seller should have clearly noted that this yeast was towards the end of its recommended shelf life. Safale recommends use within 36 months of manufacture which is plenty of time. The yeast I received is marked Jan 2024 less than 2 months away.

Super OLD Inventory
Fermentis products ship with 2 years shelf life. These arrived with 42 days until the expiration date.That means this yeast has been sitting somewhere for 22 months. Completely not acceptable.

Yeast was bad.
This yeast was contaminated. Wasted 1.5 bbl of wheat beer because of this.
