Great Purchase
This fan is amazing! The price is unbelievable. It has a gorgeous compact appearance and an elegant black metallic finish. My husband actually had an enthusiastic "Wow!" reaction to the appearance and then an emphatic "WOW" at the price. It is small but produces perfect airflow. Even the "low" setting was moving air well. The included bulbs have a warm tone while I prefer a cool tone so I may spend extra at some point to get bulbs I like better but it is very nice they are included and it is ready to use out of the box.Assembly was very simple, particularly if you are experienced with assembling furniture or fixtures. Wiring was just as simple as wiring a tiny one bulb fixture and the hands-free brace is easy to use.The only negative is that the included chains are a brass tone and since they feed into the unit, it would require disassembling the housing unit in order to change them, which I don't recommend. You do not have access following the normal instructions so you would have to disassemble pieces that were factory installed to change them. Once hung, it isn't noticeable particularly in the scope of the entire room (meaning someone who isn't looking for it wouldn't see it at all) but if you are extremely attentive to detail this may displease you.It also lacks a remote which would cost about 50% of the original purchase price to install but I love having the choice and would rather use the pull chains and save the money for other projects in my spare bedroom.Highly recommended purchase.

I'm a fan!
We got this fan for our bedroom. It looks nice and moves a decent amount of air. The installation was pretty straightforward as well. One wierd thing is, as some people have pointed out, its not really affixed to anything. Instead it rests in a socket of sorts so when you pull the chains to change the speed or turn off/on the light the whole assembly can actually pivot slightly in the socket. Once you let go it flops back to vertical but it's a little wierd.Another really important note. Initially when we installed the fan it made a terrible whirring noise that was quite loud. Having read the comments we replaced the wall switch from a dimmer (that was there before) to a regular on/off switch. This worked great! Now the fan is super quiet and we are happy. If you're having similar issues with the fan, definitely look into this first. It was just a $2 part and super easy to do.Update: We had this fan running about 6 months straight in the bedroom. It's still quiet and still works great. We liked its clean appearance quite a bit so we bought a second one (in a different color) and put it in the living room!

Do not use with a dimmer switch!!!
I bought this fan for my small 12x12 office as it gets way too hot in there during the summer with 6 monitors and 2 computers running. Install was simple, just like any other fan I've installed. However, once I turned it on, it had a pretty loud humming sound that would only increase the lower the fan speed. The sound was not horrendously loud but certainly more than I wanted to deal with in my office. This has been a common complaint for these fans. I was getting ready to take it down and return it for a different brand when I decided to do a little digging regarding the sound issue. After googling a bit I came across some information that said it could be the dimming switch that controls the fan. Skeptical, I decided to give it a go. Swapped out the dimmer with a standard light switch and presto, no humming sound, or least 95% less than what it was. Now I don't have to hassle with a return and I have a sleek, powerful fan that works perfectly for my office.Pros: looks good, moves air around quite well for only 3 blades, simple installCons: lights are rather weak, loud humming sound if connected to a dimmer switch

A Marvelous, Modern, Must-Have Fan
Not gonna lie, I was a little nervous to order this after seeing some of the other reviews mentioning inconsistent quality and a loudly-running motor. Let's face it. No fan is going to be silent for this price, but it's definitely not loud by any means. It has a nice gentle whir (on all three speeds) and moves the air quite well. The 40w bulbs are a bit of a bust - not the brightest - but if you swap them out to CFLs you're fine since they use a lower wattage and put out WAY more light (40w incandescent = less than 10w CFL typically). It's an easy fix.I can't say if it was easy to install or not as the maintenance people at my condo did it for me, but I didn't get a letter indicating their disgust and annoyance with it so I'm sure it went up without a hitch. No shakiness or anything, so either they did an excellent job or else the people who complained about this in the reviews did something wrong. My guess is a combination of both. All in all, this is a great fan for the price. Looks great, works great, IS great. I'd definitely recommend it and would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Great no-frills fan!
Pros: Easy to installReverseable fan bladesMoves a lot of airQuietLightweightCons: Wobbles when pushing air (not when pulling)As long as you know basic house wiring, this is an extremely easy fan to install. The wires are extra-long (I wound up trimming 2 feet of wire), which could be useful depending on where/how you're hanging it. I have this installed in the bedroom of a small 1-br apartment (a little over 500sq/ft), and it is powerful enough to create a mild cross-current, so I'm extremely happy with the performance. In addition, it is far more quiet than the box fan I have, so I have no worries about having it run overnight.Takes G16 light bulbs, so there really isn't enough room in there to install remote-controlled LED bulbs. So what you get is a handsome, effective ceiling fan that is hard to beat for the price.
