Lemons & Limes
Lemons are not common in Brazil. When a Brazilian says the word "limão", he is thinking and talking about a green fruit that is known in Europe and America as "limes". The yellow fruit called "lemon" in English is not grown in Brazil (I don't know why) and many Brazilians have never seen a lemon. For them, a "limão" is a "lime". So, if you ask me "How many lemons does it take you to make a caipirinha?" the answer is "None. A good caipirinha is made with limes, not lemons."The Hippocrene Brazilian Portuguese-English/English Brazilian Portuguese Concise Dictionary" was written by someone who knows about such things. The author has real knowledge of the subleties and differences of the two languages, and the dictionary is a reflection of that knowledge. Moreoever it has been written according to the latest spelling reform of the Portuguese language. Those are just a few of the reasons why it is highly recommended.

Brazilian Portuguese-English Dictionary
This dictionary is making it easier for me to learn to spell in Brazilian Portuguese. Also, it helps with pronunciation. There is also a guide to pronunciation which is helpful.

Just right for travel.
The content and size of this dictionary are just right for travel. I go regularly for business to to Juiz de Fora, Brazil (north of Rio), and so far I have not encountered any discrepencies between the content of the dictionary and the vocabulary that the locals actually speak. Also, at 4x6x1 inches, this dictionary fits very well into a pocket in my computer bag.

a good little dictionary
This is a good little dictionary, but there are many words I think should have been included that I don't find in it. I would have preferred more pages but lighter weight paper. The book is heavy for its size.

For a rough idea of context it is useful.
I use it most of the time when trying to translate a document. Unfortunately it lacks many of the words I need from time to time and it would be helpful if it showed different cases of words used very often. For a rough idea of context it is useful.

Good reference, small size.
Very useful small dictionary for Brazilian Portuguese. Knowing the words helps, but you really have to be able to pick up the pronunciation. Letters like R and T sound nothing like their English counterparts. :)

The book
Looks like exactly what we need for our upcoming mission trip to Brazil. Compact, easy to read. Probably will be used extensively on our trip, because we speak NO Portuguese.

Just what I was looking for. Simple to use ...
Just what I was looking for. Simple to use, straight English to Portuguese and visa versa. I needed something more than a tourist oriented dictionary.
