Great lens, great price, warranty included.
I started shooting (both stills and a good deal of video work) with a DSLR (Canon 60D) a little over 2 years ago and felt my photography/videography skills had advanced to the point where I could justify upgrading to Canon's L-series lenses. I had previously been using the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II kit lens, a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 prime and a Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS II telephoto lens. I wanted to cut back on the amount of gear I carried to just one main lens + my 50mm prime so I started looking for a good "everyday" lens that I could carry with me that would cover a decent range for the type of shooting I do (walking around the city, nature, people, events, vacations, short films, etc.) I spent weeks scouring Amazon, YouTube, Flickr and many other sites looking at pictures/videos taken with and reading/watching reviews of the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L II USM and the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM. As much as I loved everything about the 24-70mm, I felt it didn't cover a large enough range for the type of shooting I do and although not as good as the 24-70mm, the 24-105mm still had pretty good low light and night time shooting capabilities. Also, the 24-70mm f/2.8 was ~$1,000 more expensive than the 24-105mm. When I finally decided on the 24-105mm, I went to buy it on Amazon and came across two different versions available, with a $400 price difference between the two. I read through many of the reviews on both products to try and figure out the reason behind the price difference. Ultimately, the $749 version was shipped in a plane white box (not the original Canon box) and according many of the reviews, without a warranty; the $1,149 version was sold and shipped in the original Canon box with the lens warranty. I was a little hesitant at first to buy the lens without the original Canon box and warranty due to fears of the lens being a counterfeit knock-off but I also couldn't justify paying $400 more for just an official Canon box and warranty (especially when a three year accident protection warranty from SquareTrade for the lens would only cost $150, bringing the total up to $900 with the lens). I pulled the trigger and bought the $749 lens from Get it Digital (fulfilled by Amazon) and even though I am a Amazon Prime member and selected 2-day free Prime shipping, the lens arrived the NEXT DAY. Per the description from Get it Digital, the lens was a brand new lens that was removed from a Canon 5D Mark III kit. As other reviews had mentioned, it arrived in a plane white box; however, my lens arrived WITH the Canon limited warranty. The lens was brand new, not a single speck of dust or scratch could be found on it. I have been extremely satisfied with the superb quality of this lens, the photos/videos I have taken with it and I am even happier that I didn't spend an extra $400 just for a cardboard Canon box. I know that if I go to sell the lens in the future, not having the official Canon box will hurt the resale value slightly. However, this has become my main lens that fits perfectly for all of my shooting needs and I don't foresee myself selling the lens in the near future, therefore having the original box seems nonsensical. If you're like me and don't see the need to have the original Canon box and warranty (although if you buy it on Amazon from Get it Digital, chances are it might arrive with the Canon warranty like mine did), then I would suggest saving yourself $400 and buying the white-box version (likely brand new from a 5D Mark III kit box).

Great Lens for All Around
I have a Canon Rebel T4i and after playing with the lens that cam with the Camera (18-55), I soon realized I needed a better range. I read Many Many reviews and decided to buy this Lens. This is a White Box lens; meaning, the lens was taken out of another camera "kit" and sold seperatly from eachother. Companies do this so they can get more money for the body and lens. The Lens is identical to one you would buy for $100 more with the Box. If you are like me and don't plan to resell it soon (or would lose the box anyway) then save teh money and get this one. To start the lens is larger than I expected and heavier. Please see the size and weight, it makes a big difference in the weight of the camera. The lens is heavier but not enough to hinder me carrying it around. as expected with any L lens it's well made and Pictures are Amazing (see other reviews for samples ). It is worth the extra money to get the L series. I use the lens for my Children Mostly and landscape/ scenic pictures. If you were looking for something with a decent Zoom and Close-up this camera does the Job, for most. My children are in gymnastics and soccer. The picture quality at 105mm are not compromised and I was very happy. For Zooming Longer distances is a bit short; my next lens will be something 300mm. I would recemmend something up to 300mm if you want to see your children playing from a distance and crop in close. There is a 70-300mm DO that is much smaller than the White telephoto lenses but with the distance. Overall, I am very happy with the lens. It's a great lens to walk-around or everyday. For children playing and portraits the quality is as expected, Amazing. I only carry 2 lenses and This is One of them.

Awesome lens, amazing seller.
About the seller: Absolutely blown away! This came from S.Korea, stopped in Ohio?, and then was delivered to Arizona; from the moment I confirmed the purchase to having it delivered was 53 hours! It came way before the expected arrival date! Plus the packaging was very secure, and the lens/accessories are in perfect condition! About the lens: This is an amazing lens! Even though it is an older model, it still performs beautifully. If you are only interested in still photography, then consider this a 5 star lens. If you are interested in video work, there are a few points to keep in mind. The reason I gave it four stars for AF is that it is very difficult to correctly focus without manual focus for video with this particular lens. For still photos it is great, but not for any film work. As for image stabilization, a similar note. For still photos it's fine. But this model can produce an annoying motor sound, which is picked up by lower quality mics. Still, the lens is a great addition to any camera bag; and for the price, it is worth working around any of the fore-mentioned obstacles.

This lens is absolutely stunning on a crop-sensor body (I use it with a Canon 60D). I've been using a canon EFS 15-85, which is a superb lens, for quite some time and was very pleased with its results, but I'd had a hankering for the EF 24-105L which I finally gave into once Canon announced their Winter cash-back promotion (£80 back) and I'm so glad I did! In fact I wish I'd bought this lens ages ago, even for full price! The lens is absolutely tack-sharp, even wide open, at short to medium focal lengths, and is very-good/excellent across the board at any focal-length/aperture. Contrast is nothing short of staggering too. The optical quality of this zoom lens leaves me speechless, it's on a par with some of Canon's best primes to my eye, whilst also offering the flexibility of zooming. Some people say that the 24mm wide-end isn't wide enough for a crop sensor body, but I find that outside it's adequately wide for most shots, and the long-end 105mm is a reasonably long medium telephoto equivalent, making this an ideal walk-around lens for just about any situation. Indoors you may want something a little wider, but it's still great for portraits and anything except group shots. The constant maximum aperture is a real boon if you're operating the camera in Manual mode, or you're "spot-metering" by zooming-in to obtain a meter reading (especially useful when using flash), and the ability of the lens to yield such good results even wide-open opens up realms of creativity which aren't available when using less proficient optics and using f/8 to give a reasonably sharp image. The Image Stabilisation is one of Canon's 3-stop equivalent systems, not the 4-stop variety seen on the newest long lenses, but still very proficient and useful. The autofocus uses Canon's ring-type ultrasonic motor which is lightning-fast and ceaselessly accurate. This may be a 10 year old lens design but it find it a first-class piece of glass and can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who's after top-spec optics at a reasonable price!

Blende 4,0

Excellent Lens. Little on the heavier side. Using it with Canon EOS 600d. First few clicks were not extraordinary but the quality kept on improving on usage. Of course, this is nothing to do with the lens.
