Just Between Us: Mother & Daughter: A No-Stress, No-Rules Journal (Activity Journal for Teen Girls and Moms, Diary for Tween Girls)

I am nineteen, and I recently bought this book for my mom for mother's day. She was completely stunned and thrilled by the idea of a mother-daughter journal. We have already written in a couple of the beginning entries each which ask things like-"Favorite song..." and "Favorite thing to do with mother/daughter...," and filling out these random but entertaining questions is a great way to start the journal as well as dive into the more thoughtful questions which involve things like first memories.After reading several of the customer reviews of this book, I was a little hesitant to buy it because most of the reviews involved the daughters being no older than twelve. But I assure every mother and daughter that this is a great book for older ages as well as long as the mother and daughter are close-such as is my experience. Even though I am nineteen, this book does not seem childish or the entries forced because we enjoy having this new ability to bond. It also seemed personal at least for us since I write stories, so this was like offering a branch of my life to my mom who doesn't really share in this part of my life.It is also great because it allows for very short yet heartfelt entries which do not take much time to complete. Another wonderful feature of this book is that is helps both the mother and the daughter relive memories as well as share each other's. It is both light and entertaining which allows for a good distraction and escape from the hassle and occasional chaos of the world. The best part of this book, though, is that it lets mothers and daughters share in one another's lives as well as create new memories and stories together.I highly recommend this book to any mother and daughter team wanting an excuse or way to bond. Some of the questions, such as the ones which involve dating, do seem meant for children probably no younger than six, but there are many more fun entries and activities such as guessing and drawing which items are in the other's purse/bookbag. They also involve future advice for dating, so these questions may seem a little late for teenagers and older daughters. Yet, I found this book to overall be a wonderful idea as well as an outlet, and I applaud the mother-daughter team who began this journal. It is truly a great buy!

I love this book and highly recommend it for girls and moms to use and exchange between the two. It's a great way to get your feelings out, and have private conversations. It creates bonds and a safe place for both girls and moms. Have a daughter in 2nd grade or older? You must buy this book!

First and foremost I'd like to say that this journal is beautifully crafted. My daughter just turned 13 and I wanted to get her journals to express herself but when I saw this I just had to buy it. I thought it would be a great idea and I hoped she would think so too. Let me just say if you won't commit to writing back then don't bother but if your willing to be open and commit this is a great way to open up w her and communicate w out the awkwardness of some topics whether it be on your end or her end. Needless to say she loves it and she's always anxious for my reply we started this a week ago and we both love this journal and are looking forward to continuing it. 😊 ps. I love the bookmark strings that let's us both know where I left off and where she needs to start. Very creative and well thought of journal.

This book has been a great way to stay connected with my teen daughter during a time when she is becoming so independent. Great conversation starters for bigger conversations also.

Both my daughter and I were excited to get this journal. Building trust with my daughter is important to me as she approaches her teenage years, as I want her to feel comfortable in confiding in me. I think this book is an excellent tool for pretty much any age, as it makes achieving a certain level of intimacy even easier because there is that medium of writing rather than posing questions out loud or talking face-to-face about sticky subjects. While it's important to be able to do this, I think this journal provides a nice means of establishing a closer relationship that will encourage easier, more comfortable conversation.The book comes with two attached ribbons, one for mom and one for daughter, that can be used to mark new entries or for mom or daughter to indicate where one wants the other to pick up. There are plenty of blank pages for free writing, but the book also contains a variety of suggested topics and list pages that encourage the correspondents to discuss things like favorite songs, dreams, life ambitions, and things they'd like to do together. My daughter especially likes these pages as she's at an age where the poll-style appeals to her. If you're not quite sure where to begin with shared journaling, this book is a great investment because of the proposed topics.It's also nice to look at. The cover is cute, and the inside includes pretty, muted colors and designs with different colors to differentiate the mother's section from the daughter's. You can write in the journal from front to back or skip around and write about whatever topic interests you, as my daughter and I do.After only a couple of entries, I learned some things about my daughter I'd never known. Though we talk a lot and are close, the journal brought up topics I hadn't considered discussing with her, and it helps us both to learn more about the other as a person. I think this is great for kids, who sometimes don't see their parents as the human beings they are, but it's also great for me as a mom. It's touching to learn about my daughter's hopes and aspirations, and I love that she feels empowered and encouraged to share them with me. I think this would make a beautiful gift for mother/daughter pairs of all ages.

Got this for my daughter’s 8th birthday. We both enjoy writing in it, the prompts are interesting and spark creativity, there’s also plenty of room for our own ideas. This is presented beautifully and makes a gorgeous gift.

Simply love this for my daughter and I. She is in University and she doesn't need to share as much with me as she once did. This journal opened us up to better communication and sharing. We made a rule that our thoughts and statements stay in the book and we don't talk about it.

It is good

This journal is absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend it for all mother-daughters. Writing can create space for safe, deeper communication… things are shared that may not otherwise been. Great prompts. So glad I purchased it.
