Excellent gun, short lead
When I ordered this hot air gun, I thought it was about the size of a chunky pen, probably because it looks a bit like a vape pen. I got quite a shock when it turned up and it turned out to be about the size of a cordless screwdriver. (See pics)It's a well-made device, with a good-quality switch, a neat integrated stand that manages to work when needed and not get in the way when not needed. The only problem is the short power lead. It's pretty much exactly 3' long, (which is just over 91cm) and it's frustratingly small. A 4' lead would be a big improvement, so it's a shame this hot air gun is spoiled by the lack of a bit of extra mains cable. But it's a lot sturdier than I expected. (Probably because it's about 4 times the size of what I expected.)I'll admit it, I bought this hot air gun because it was a lightning deal and I'm a sucker for what looks like a bargain. However I'll also admit that it sat in the box for ages, because I had absolutely no use for it for some time. However, one day I had been using my hot glue gun, and I wasn't happy with the results. It suddenly occurred to me that I might be able to use this hot air gun to re-melt the glue, and might even be able to move it a bit with the air jet.I was not mistaken. This hot air gun is a REALLY useful partner to a hot glue gun. Not only does it melt the glue to be thinner than the glue gun does, and so allows it to penetrate a joint that it might not otherwise have penetrated, it also seems to cure the glue, so glue that has been heated above it's normal operating temperature by this hot air gun seems to cool to be a little harder than it normally does when it's come from the glue gun. Not ideal if you want normal flexibility, but great if you need a little extra strength in a glued item. (It's nothing like as strong as epoxy resin though, just to be clear.).I love it when I buy something and it exceeds my expectations, so while I'm not happy with the short lead, and would normally dock a star for that, I like this little hot air gun so much that I can't bring myself to.Highly recommended!

This is great for short blasts 30 seconds and under
This product is a Chinese product. It is rebranded under many names. You can find it listed on Amazon many times , under many prices and even ebay or the famous Fasttech website which is direct from China. The compliance sheet included, doubles up as a safety sheet. I do not think it is genuine however, it's there probably for import reasons, but this wouldn't pass current UK Safety standards. It gives some nonsense about a cut off, but that isn't present. The only way it will cut off is when it over heats and burns the termination wires. Yes that's the only cut off.It gives some broken English about the airflow. In short, it sucks in air via a fan in the grill by the power switch, then by the way in which fans work, obviously the air is exhausted down the barrel and aling that barrel are nichrome wires, which cause the heat. Nichrome heats up quickly, which is why the heat ramp up time is pretty rapid. In short it is designed like a hair dryer, but obviously do not use it as this.It must be noted that there is NO SAFETY CUT OFF. There's a fuse in the plug (13 amp!) and an on and off switch and that is it. I have put in a 5 amp fuse as 13 is way too high. Again proof it hasn't hone gone through our UK safety testing. The power cord is just under 1m long which is ok and the unit has a wider girth than expected from the picture shown.I am using this to apply heat shrink to 18650 batteries. It does the job perfectly well as it takes about 30 seconds maximum for it to be done. You can feel the chassis heating up through use, so anything over 1 minute and I don't think I'd feel confident in the safety of the product, plus i feel the product would be too hot to hold.Noise levels are ok. No worse than your average hair dryer, maybe a bit less. The built in stand is very useful. Again, the description says to use it hands free, but I DO NOT recommend it. The stand is suitable to use on a heat resistant surface to allow the product to cool between and after use.For my uses, this is ok but the advertisement and the provided instructions are very misleading. In the right hands this is perfectly fine and ok, but in inexperienced hands from someone going by the description, this could be a hazard. This is great for short blasts 30 seconds and under, with rests of 10 seconds in between. If you need more, I suggest buying something that is regulated and a little more suitable for the job in hand.

Constantly overheats
First plugged in and it was instantly on. So used straight away. Put it down to adjust artwork and went to switch on and it wouldn’t go on. After a few mins it worked again. Overheats very quickly unfortunately it was too late to return as I had accidentally got paint on it ..... otherwise it would of been sent back no worth the price - hairdryer done same job

Good
I'm happy with the price and quality of this item but it has a very short cord so you'll need an extension to use. Thus given only 3 stars for this reason. I use it in my flow acrylic art painting but had to purchase an extension at an additional cost before I could use it. Very happy with the results and it doesn't get too hot (or dangerous) like a traditional butane heat gun - takes a little longer tho but much safer!

Handheld Hot air tube
Well isn't actually a gun but others as advertised, no temperature control on it which is a little disappointing found it melted some items as was just way too hot for them.Fits most of my purposes but more often than not pull out the Mrs's hairdryer.
