BoschHMD8451UC 800 ,Over-the-Range,24" Stainless Steel Microwave Drawer

We recently renovated our kitchen and my sons favorite part is the microwave drawer. It works well. It's easy to use. Even my elderly parents find it easier to use then a microwave that is up high. They just have a difficult time seeing the buttons because they are on the side and they can't bend down.

Installed this as part of a kitchen remodel over 3 years ago. We love it... have not had any issues, works like a charm, and we continue to get compliments about how great it looks. We are getting ready to move, and we are already talking to our building about customizing the kitchen layout so we can buy another one.

Purchased the unit in Sept 2018 for a Kitchen remodel after researching whether to buy the Sharp or Bosch drawer microwaves. Installed in Nov 2018 once cabinet installation was complete. Unit immediately did not work meaning that it would not heat up food. We called Bosch support and they told us to unplug unit and plug back in. Unit still did not work. They told us they would find someone to come out and service it. Meanwhile, we call Amazon and ask to return it. They can't because it's outside the 30 day return window. They connect us again with Bosch who gives us two names of local dealers who should service the unit under warranty. We call both of those and neither services the drawer microwaves. We can Bosch again and they say they'll find us someone and then give us the same names. I tell them that they won't service the unit. They say they have to elevate to a manager who will find us someone. Over the next two weeks, we reach out for Bosch to get an update and just hear that "they're working on it". And, they wouldn't let us speak with the managers. Finally, Bosch reaches back out to say, sorry, we can't do anything because the Amazon e-tailer isn't an authorized e-tailers. Really, it took you 4 weeks to do that. So, I called back to Amazon and have to give them credit... After hearing the situation, they DID refund us for the unit. I was really impressed with their customer service. If I'm Amazon, I wouldn't associate myself with the $hit show of Bosch. Thank you for standing behind what you sell Amazon! This is why you're growing and Bosch is in the toilet!

We wanted to change our over the stove microwave to a drawer type to open up the stove area. We wanted one that would be flush to the cabinets (this is not entirely flush with the cabinet we purchased). Although we like the clean lines of the Bosch HMD845 we should have researched more thoroughly before purchasing. We were at Home Depot ordering the cabinet and we had to give them the size of the microwave so they could order the correct size to accommodate our microwave. Little did we know there are so many size options. Since we had been looking at this model, we just went with it. When we finally received our cabinets, months later, we installed the microwave. Very easy to install. Our issue is with the design. First, no 30 second button, it's for a minute. Because it's a drawer style, you do have to bend over to see all the buttons. It would be incredibly helpful if the instrument panel was backlit. To make oatmeal for 3 minutes at 50%, we have to press buttons 12 times!!!! Open, close, 3, 0, 0, power level 6 times to get to 50%, start! This is ridiculous! From what we were told at a home design store, Sharp holds several patents on drawer microwaves, so even though it may be a different brand, it's possible it's Sharp technology. So, go for a Sharp at a lower price point. The microwave itself has worked fine (knock on wood), it's purely the design that we find inadequate which would be a Bosch thing.

Pros: I love the look. We installed this in the island as it was the only location we had for a microwave.Cons:* The digital display is sagging behind the faceplate - you can clearly see some of the circuitry.* Installation is finicky and if you don't get it just right, the door doesn't close all the way, leaving the microwave inoperable (fan and lights turn on, but the magnetron doesn't turn on to heat up the foot).* Even after installing it correctly, it worked great for a month and then the door slightly warped enough for the sensors to not engage. Pressing very lightly on the door triggers the switch and microwave heats up food.That being said, I can fix the door to trigger correctly and take off the faceplate to re-align... probably not something the average consumer is willing to do.

It works great for me and my family. We installed this one in our kitchen island about 3 months ago so our kids could reach it to make popcorn and heat up milk and water. Not having the crappy rotating glass dish is a plus for me. Spacious enough for most things we heat up inside a microwave. No complaints so far.
