Bakery Chocolate Buttercream Flavor!
If you can't eat palm kernel oil and break out at the very thought of it, this is a great solution. To make this icing you simply beat 1/2 a cup of room temperature unsalted butter till creamy for two minutes, then add the mix, then beat again for a minute. Then simply beat in 2 tablespoons of whole milk and continue on until your frosting is nice and fluffy. It works! This is so much easier than having to measure out all the confectioners' sugar and cocoa powder. One tip...check to see if there are any sugar lumps in the mix. If there are you may want to put it all in a large ziplock bag and use a rolling pin to crush the lumps. Otherwise you will not be able to frost with a piping tip because the lumps will get stuck! But spreading the frosting is still easy if you do it the old fashioned way. Lesson learned! This chocolate icing has the flavor of a real bakery buttercream icing. The unsalted butter is essential so you don't get too much salt in the icing. I keep unsalted butter in the freezer and just take out a stick the day before I need it. Well worth the five seconds of effort!I also love the vanilla icing too!!!~The Rebecca Review

Awesome taste. C
Amazing taste. Like the old Jiffy fudge icing.

Delicious!
I started with the vanilla version to make an amazing pineapple upside down cake. Of course, you have to use top quality cherries without artificial colors. I figured, I should try the chocolate version. I’m pleased to state that it’s also delicious!

A bit SALTY
Delicious, easy, and no ingredients that you can’t pronounce!! Hoorayyy!!!! Just make sure you follow the directions and use UNSALTED butter—the mix already has a little salt you can taste but otherwise it’s really good. Also, because you use one whole stick of butter in this delicious frosting, make sure you refrigerate your frosting or leftover frosted cake. 4 stars because of the tad too much salt—otherwise soo easy and good!

Great mix but follow directions
I just made this to frost some cupcakes, and it turned out great. It did take some time to make with a hand mixer, and you definitely do have to follow the instructions on the box. The one star reviewer who complained about it being hard, lumpy, and unspreadable almost certainly was experiencing user error. I suspect they did not add milk after combining the butter and powdered mix. Mine was clumpy lumps at that stage too, but then I followed the instructions and added two tablespoons of milk, mixed it in, and it was very creamy and spreadable. It is definitely more milk chocolate than semisweet in taste, which is fine with me. And I do think that the box's the "makes enough for 12 cupcakes" estimate is for someone who loves A LOT of frosting per cupcake, or else has much bigger cupcakes than me. My cake mix made about 20 cupcakes, and I have enough for all of them, but your mileage may vary.

OMG, buy it now!
This is the best frosting ever! I have made it several times and everyone is always shocked when I tell them it came from a box lol It tastes like milk chocolate, but I make it with vegan butter and pea protein milk, so no dairy! I used to make my own frosting but it doesn't hold a candle to this! The vanilla one is just ok, but the chocolate frosting is wonderful!

Not worth the trouble
I was hoping this would have a richer flavor than canned icing, but it didn’t. For the effort required, it’s better to just buy the can.

Expensive but convenient
Grabbed this because a recipe called for it, ended up using it in a pinch to just make icing and it filled the bill. For the price will just make sure I have powdered sugar next time, but it was nice to have on hand the once.
