Marty Noble's Cats Around the World: New York Times Bestselling Artists' Adult Coloring Books

The media could not be loaded. I love cat design coloring books. I have had a number of cats in my life and now, because of health issues, I can only enjoy my kitties from a distance. This coloring book, with its 48 glorious designs, provides a wide spectrum of cat breeds and locales in which they are placed. The designs are truly from around the world and provide a wonderful coloring experience as each has a full background.The designs are detailed (as usual with a background) but they are not what I consider intricate or difficult to color. There are a few spots with smaller areas to color especially in the backgrounds. I might not consider it for someone with visual issues but I don't think that I will need special pens or pencils to color this book.Just a small nit. I noticed that many countries only ranked one design (including the US) but that a few, such as France and Italy had four and a number of others had two. Based solely on the title, I would have liked one designs per country and a broader range of countries show. As I said, a nit, a I really like all of the designs in the book. Perhaps there will be a second book with other countries included.Just a note in passing. This line of books is called “New York Times Bestselling Artists” Adult Coloring Books. It does not mean that this particular book has made it to the New York Times Best Sellers list, merely that the artists who create these books have been on that list for one or more books.This is what I found in this coloring book and how my coloring medium works with this book and others in this line of books.48 designs of cats in scenic locations from around the worldThe designs are printed on one side of the pagePaper is white, medium weight, lightly rough and has perforated pagesGlue Binding but with perforated pages so removing a page is fairly simpleThe designs do not cross over the perforations. There are framing lines at the outer edges of the designsAlcohol-based markers bleed through the pageWater-based markers bleed through in spots and show colorful shadows on the back of the pageGel pens and India ink pens did not bleed through. India ink pens can bleed through in spots if I apply it heavily or more than one layer of ink.Coloring pencils work well this paper. I am able to get good pigment (color) lay down, layer the same color and multiple colors and to blend easily using a pencil style blender. Both oil and wax-based pencils have similar results. Hard lead pencils, like Verithins, leave dents on the back of the page.I suggest either removing pages from the book to color or using a blotter page under your working page. I like card stock as it keeps ink from seeping through and damaging the pages below.

My remarks on brookridgegal's review are not showing up as accessible thru "Comment" below her review; so since it was so helpful, here they are (hope Amazon corrects problem): Thank you so much for the tip about Googling the actual photo images of the pictures! Doing it was fun & helpful! Altho I love doing research on places in novels I read, I doubt if I would have thot to do it on my own for this coloring book. It added a whole other dimension to the project. Then I got the idea to look up cat breeds that originated in the countries. Not every country represented in the book has developed a breed, but when I did find one I used its coloring in the appropriate scene. Great, interesting fun . . . thanks again.

It has so many pictures

Great subject matter. Inspires cat art to other artists.

Kitties and travel two of my favorite things. This book is beautiful. Has lots of pages, they are thin enough to see through other side but they are one sided. The art is great, very detailed and the pages are perforated. Can’t wait to color in it.

I can see why a best seller. Drawings and paper quality were excellent. Wish I could afford all their collections.

I love this coloring book. It has pictures of cities from all around the world and cats included in with for that city as well. I got this book for myself and I’m 49 years old. I love to color as it helps me to destress. For those that love cats they should get this book

I AM A BIG FAN OF MARTY NOBLE'S COLORING BOOKS AND THIS ONE WAS NO EXCEPTION TO THAT RULE. ALL OF THE ARTWORK IS GORGEOUS. THE PAPER IS TYPICAL OF CREATIVE HAVEN BOOKS AND THIS ONE WAS THICKER THAN WHAT I EXPECTED. WHICH IS GREAT BECAUSE I HAVE MORE TO COLOR! THE PICTURES ARE VERY DETAILED AND ALL ARE ONE SIDED IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY. THIS MEANS YOU CAN USE MARKERS ON THE PAGES JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOMETHING BEHIND IT SO THERE IS NO BLEED THROUGH ON TO THE NEXT PICTURE. ALL IN ALL, A LOVELY BOOK WITH LOVELY PICTURES THAT I KNOW I WILL HAVE HOURS OF FUN COLORING.
