Tester pot is ideal for small items
I had an old barometer that was damaged. It wasn't worth much, but I decided it would look much better if I tried to repair the damaged mahogany. I turned some wood on the lathe to the desired hemispherical shape about 4" in diameter. The mahogany tester pot stained this small piece in 4 or 5 coats until it exactly matched the existing mahogany, and I still have half the stain left in the tiny pot. I sprayed on some clear lacquer and fitted it, and now only an expert would know it wasn't all original. I have never tried to do anything like this before, so I'm very pleased. Excellent stain.
