GE Appliances WD34X21699 Dishwasher Control Panel

This is not a snap on!!! Don’t listen to reviews that say it doesn’t fit right or pops up. They are not installing it correctly. You have to disassemble the door to install. Tabs slide on. Take your time , be gentle. Do not force it and eyeball which direction the tabs slide in from. YouTube has videos but scan through a couple of them. Some are hacks. Hint…. The reason you are replacing this more than likely is that the chrome trim popped loose. It WILL happen again if you don’t correct the problem with your cabinet that it hits . The door on this dishwasher has some sideplay. So if the dishwasher moves a little from one side or another and the cabinet space is tight, it’s going to hit and waste all your time money and labor. I took my dremel and trimmed a notch in cabinet only where the chrome would hit it. Just enough that the rest of the door will hit first. Then it’s protected. Do both sides. You won’t see the notches when your standing up. They will be below the counter top. I’m not happy with any of my new GE appliances, I think this is a flawed design but notching will at least stop this problem.

Based on the description, I thought I was receiving a new part, but it is clear that someone attempted to install this (incorrectly), broke it, and then returned it. There are 16 small plastic 90° tabs on the back that are used to secure the cover to the dishwasher door. Of the 16 tabs, only three are not broken. The rest (13 of 16) are snapped off. In the first attached picture, you can see four tabs and only one of them (the top right one) is not broken. The shiney trim on the outside edge is also cracked, which wouldn't be such a huge deal if I could at least install this and put my dishwasher back together, but there's no way this wouldn't just flap around and get even more broken if I was to install it (which is why the original one I broke in the first place). Don't be like me and take the door off your dishwasher (which was a total hassle by the way) until you carefully inspect this part and make sure it's not broken.

I ordered this part after moving to a new house because it was missing from the dishwasher. I believe the part is a genuine GE replacement part, but it was either a bad design or damage to my dishwasher, because it does not stay in place properly. I am a mechanical engineer and I messed with it for about 15 minutes. It will fit into place but then pop back out. It’s good enough for the moment but I likely need to do something else (glue or fasten it somehow) to get it to stay permanently attached

GE has a long way to go in terms of quality as do all the other manufacturers out there charging more for the garbage they produce. This was a replacement control panel cover for my dishwasher because the original one broke into 4 pieces. I paid $60 for this cheap piece of plastic. I tried to install the replacement and all of the tabs snapped off. I have no idea how you are suppose to install these things without breaking off the plastic tabs. So frustrating. I am sending it back and trying for round 2.

Exactly like oem, be careful with the plastic end, seem like they will break easily. I suggest watching a YouTube video on replacement procedure. The door has to be removed to do it correctly.

Fit well to replace a broken part. Would recommend for someone in the same situation.
