The Doctor is back!!!
Big Finish Productions does it again with this latest adaptation of the much loved Dr. Who comics from the 1970s-1980s. Tom Baker is back as the Doctor ( Dr.Who #:4). As perhaps the best Dr.Who in the universe, his performance as always is brilliant!!! Yes, this radio drama has made some changes from what's from the original comic's strips. And, this might annoy fans of the classic doctor who series & comics.. But, the core of the original stories are there. The actors Really do a wonderful job. In the story, " The Iron Legion ", is really something! The Doctor finds himself in a parallel world where Rome never fell! But continued to the state of having robots conquered everything. Wow!!! The actors who bring the ancient robot victims and the cyborg slave Morris are especially wonderful. For those who grew up in THIS time of the classic doctor who series, you may feel you're watching an episode from back then. The same goes for the next story, " The Star Beast". School children Sharon and Fudge stubble across a wounded alien. Beep, the Keep. Beep LOOKS like a harmless large blue hamster. He tricks the children to help him. The Doctor on his way back to earth for a holiday is intercepted by aliens hunting the Keep. The Doctor is captured by these aliens because they think he's the keeps friend. The Doctor is released from his captures. The Doctor is VERY confused but makes good in his escape. When the Doctor finally meets Sharon, Fudge, Fudges mum and the Keep, things slowly becoming clearer. BUT, things aren't always as they seem. These green insect aliens are the good guys. Well, they're the police hunting for the Keep, whose really a wanted war criminals. Now it's a race against time, for the Doctor to save his friends and the world from the EVIL keep! This second audio drama is amazing! Of course Tom Baker as the Doctor is brilliant. However, the actor who is the voice of the Evil keep is REALLY AMAZING!!!! WOW!!! SHE IS MEEP!! I think any Dr Who fan, especially a Tom Baker fan, will enjoy this. I know I am REALLY ENJOYING , this audio drama! I LOVE it ! I can hardly wait for the NEXT volume

5 CD Box Set
Neither the product photo nor the description tells you that this is a 5 CD box set. Each CD has it's own hard plastic case and inserts. These longer stories give better value than what is stated.

Very Enjoyable!
I have both stories as comics, but I was very impressed with them both in audio form. I felt that the Iron Legion was extremely well done and was glad to add both stories to my expansive Doctor Who audio collection.

One Solid Story and a Brilliant One
This collection features two Doctor Who stories adapted from Doctor Who Comic strip stories in the late 1970s and early 1980s and starring Tom Baker:The Iron Legion is a fun story as the Doctor finds himself following kidnappers to an alternate universe where Rome persisted to the then-present day of 1979. This is a pretty good adaptation with a lot of fun Roman characters and I like how they made Morris such a great character. It didn't quite capture all the splendor of what was a pretty visual story in the comics. In addition, the story branched out with an alternate universe doppleganger story which tied up some loose ends but utilized a tired trope and didn't do anything interesting with it. Still, a pretty good adaptation with Tom Baker giving his all throughout. In Doctor Who and the Star Beast, A spaceship crashes to Earth and two teenagers find the ship and its cute alien inhabitant who is being hunted by a group of fierce aliens who have orders to kill it and who come to suspect the Doctor is the alien's accomplice. This is a madcap adventure that has so many hilarious moments in it and so many rich sources of comedy from Fudge's geeky delusions of grandeur to Beep the Meep's internal dialogue to Fudge's mom's working class outlook, and of course Zogroth's lack of understanding of how human society to works, and Tom Baker plays off all of this beautifully. This is easily one of the best Doctor Who comedy stories Big Finish has ever done.Overall, while the Iron Legion is good, Doctor Who and the Star Beast was brilliant and makes the entire set a must-buy.

More please!
I still have the comic strip versions of this set and it is great to able to hear he spoken word which accompanies the pictures. If Tom Baker is still up to the job, it would be great to see them made into an actual televised version!

Beep the Meep!
Spoilers! I purchased this because I’d heard that Beep the Meep will appear in the 2023 60th anniversary TV episodes. The cuddlesome alien appears in the box set’s second story Star Beast, and is indeed the shining black star of the purchase. For me, the first story Iron Legion was boring, and I confess I didn’t listen to all of that one. Tom Baker is excellent as The Doctor, as always.
