For Appearance' Sake: The Historical Encyclopedia of Good Looks, Beauty, and Grooming

It might be a good reference book if you were working on a school paper; otherwise it's very dry.

"For Appearance...The Historical Encyclopedia..." is just that. A 1-volume encyclopedia format text of appearance related stuff like cosmetics, etc. Purchased for my daughter's history report the book covered a lot of topics and was very useful in that respect, but only gave a quarter page of info on most topics, ranging from a paragraph to a page. So a lot of content, great for an overview but many topics may need secondary sources if you need details. Well worth the price for the intended purpose, a Middle school-High School level research paper. Also great for trivia buffs. I didn't give a lot of detail about what it covered because it was her paper, the book covered a lot of topics and I leafed through the book looking for interesting stuff.
