The Complete Book of Self-Sufficiency Hardcover – January 1, 1976

Great book. Inspiring, with many tried and true methods to use on your path to self sufficiency. The illustrations in the book are FANTASTIC, I am not sure if they were done by the publishing company or the authors wife. I read that the Sally Seymour did the illustrations but she is not given credit anywhere in the book that I can see. This book was one of the early publications put out by Dorling Kindersley, they continue to publish lovely books with great illustrations, so if anyone knows who did the illustrations in this book, please let me know.This book gives a wealth of information and should certainly motivate all of us to do for ourselves just a little more. Whether you want to just do a few things for yourself, such as growing a few vegetables, or you want to go the "whole hog" and keep a large garden, chickens, live stock, and make most of the things you need in daily life, this book will give you the motivation and information you need to get started.

Everyone should have a copy of this book!! It is so practical and easy to understand. I cannot wait until spring so I can try some of the gardening tips I have learned while reading this book. Truly a must have. Even if you do not live in the country or have a space to garden....or even the time to garden...you will find practical useful knowledge in this book! I just love knowing that this book is part of my library.

I Pre-Ordered this book In 2009, and compared it with its predecessor, surpassed all expectations with the bonus 100 pages.Unfortunately John has passed, so this will be the last release.I reciently purchased 4 additional copies for my four closest friends, they also love this book more then any other self-sufficiency book they have.If your even dreaming of self sufficiency, this book will show you the way.This book is definitely the biggest part in my plans to be self sufficient.There are even farm layout plans for a 1 acre mini farm, and a 5 acre farm.You Must have this book, and you Must Gift this book to like minded friends.

If you have any thoughts about being self-sufficient, this is the only book you'll need! True. So buy some acreage and use this as your guide. The information is excellent and covers the whole gamut of what you'll need.

Great book. This book seems to be an "almost" exact copy of the the New Self-Sufficient Life book. I bought this and 2 other John Seymour books and couldn't find any new information between this book and the New Self-Sufficient one. Still, on the whole a great investment and wonderful read. Highly recommended.
