This was a fun little kit for my 8 year old son. It was educational as he learned quite a bit as he was going through it. It was pretty easy for him to do himself, but he did have to be careful with it and there are some pieces that can make a bit of a mess. This was cute and safe for him to do independently.

I put this kit on my sons' wishlist for Christmas and I was ecstatic when they (meaning I) actually got one. Of course I dove right into it and sat my sons down to experiment with finger prints. I've had plenty of experience as a forensic person when I ran a detective agency when I was 10. So I thought I was going to really impress the boys with my skills. Well, it didn't go so well with the brush that came with it, as I of course already suspected at first glance. The brush isn't soft enough and will damage the print. I'd replace it with a fiberglass brush.

My son loved it. And jacket with hat fit well. He'll go investigating soon!

I ordered this for our seven year old daughter and she was very excited to receive it. I was initially very impressed. The components seemed well-made, including the hat and coat. Unfortunately, the light that was included to see the invisible writing (which was one of the most exciting things for her) stopped working after one day! We tried new batteries and everything and it still flickers and barely works. Disappointing.

Bought this as a gift for 7 year old boy. He loved this detective kit and immediately donned the trench coat and hat. Had fun with fingerprinting & crime scene tape. Would definitely recommend.

I was VERY pleased with this kit for my 5 year old female neighbor who has a million interests and one just starting in the detective area. I always buy her a dress of her liking, but feel that kids should get a toy as well! So when I saw this, I was a little hesitant, but thought it looked like something she would enjoy. Her mom sent me the photos of her decked out in the 'overcoat, hat and magnifying glasses' and I was so glad I took the chance. One never knows what will spark a future career for busy little minds. I would definitely recommend for others with similar interests.......as long as you don't mind being finger printed!
