The Math Is Not Wrong
The math is not wrong...Graduates earn $330,000 more per year is the starting number...Then...the poster breaks this down into the four years a student spends in high school...that is what is being translated...basically saying that a student does get paid for being in high school over the course of their lifetime...$330,000/4 years of high school = $82,500/year$82,500/9 months of school per year = $9,144/month$9,144/20 days of school per month = $458/day$458/6 hours of school per day = $76/hour$76/60 = $1.27/minuteThe message is great but the poster is a bit small for the price.

For those that don't understand the math...
For those that don't understand the math...The poster is saying the time spent IN high school pays off.The breakdown is how much more lifetime salary they "earn" per high school day/week/month/year they complete.Assuming the student spends 4 years in high school, they will receive $330,000 more in their life time$82,500 x 4 years of high school = $330,000(Approximately 9 months per year or 180 days and so forth)Confusing? Maybe, but not incorrect.

Sadly, This Isn't True for Our Students Here, But Not Everyone Lives in a Poor State
Our cost of living in this state is far too low for this to be accurate FOR US, even with post graduate degrees. However, for most, this poster displaying lifetime earnings should be a great incentive to prevent high school drop outs.

+$330,000 = 50 years of 100hr work weeks
I'm not really sure how they're getting those figures. There aren't many people with just a high school degree that even make $82,500 annually. That's 64,960 minutes, 1082 hrs, or 135 work days (8 hrs). $1.27 a minute is an extra $76.20 an hour. Now, they must of meant +$1.27 p/h. Consider 40hr work weeks. A high school degree would equate to $2,641.60 per year. That's only $132,080 for 50 years. You would have to work 125 years to make that or @ 100 hr work weeks ($6,604 per year) and you can do it in 50. Whoever made this poster probably didn't graduate high school themselves.
