Vive Le Color! Butterflies (Adult Coloring Book): Color In; De-stress (72 Tear-out Pages)

This is a smaller format book of butterfly designs. While it is small in the hand at approximately 7 x 7 inches, it is filled with 72 pages of beautiful butterflies. The binding is at the top of the book and it will be extremely easy to remove pages. So easy, in fact, that I think it might be difficult to keep the book together. There is a thick hard piece of cardboard at the back of the book which will make it easy to take this book on-the-go without need of a desk or table underneath. The designs are printed on the front side of each bright white medium weight page with the backside blank. The prints themselves are done in a very light fashion – almost gray in tone. I like this as it will allow my coloring to dominate in the finished piece versus the heavy black lines of the original design. I can also decide if I want to re-enforce the black lines or to color over them in a different shade. The designs are beautiful and have a variety of styles. While they are on the smaller side, they will present a nice challenge due to the detail in some and the openness of others (in which I can add my own elements of pattern and design.) I will probably resort to my magnifying lamp from time to time with this book. My pencils and gel pens are working great with the paper but I will use a backing piece of freezer paper or cardstock if I decide to use markers as some may leach through and ruin the next page of designs. This is a new design company for me and, based on how beautifully done and unusual the concept is for this book, I have ordered their books on Japan and India. I'm looking forward to coloring in this book and find it very unique and unusual compared to other books I own.

I really enjoy these pages! The format is small enough for quick completion and the pages come out perfectly from the "book". I do find that most images contain tiny areas to color, but once I discovered Sarasa Zebra pens (.03 tip) and Pilot Juice pens (.05 tip), there is NO issue with this book or any other finely detailed books I own. Both sets of pens are considered "gel" pens, but as a leftie, I can attest that there is no smear (in small spaces, I've not tried larger which may give a different result). I also have blown these images up and printed out on my own cardstock to make colored pencil use easier. My daughter is totally into butterflies, and this is a family favorite! NOTE: as of the writing of this review, both pen sets are still available here on Amazon. If you like the super complex designs as I do, they are a must-have!

Beautiful pics. This was a little smaller than expected. I should've read more thoroughly. It's not a bad thing because the art is still beautiful. Good, quality. Made a great gift.

I love this line of coloring books! They give you a great variety to choose from, as well as the paper is great - markers do not bleed through! We have tried others that say they don't bleed through but all of the others do!

It's not exactly what I expected, it's thick but it's put together like a set of sticky pads. It's not an actual book. While I understand it said that each pafe was a tear away page, it's hard to color and flip the page because the pages before are so easy to rip away, the books going to come apart. Now for a compliment, the drawings are beautiful, there's a lot of them....I just don't know how I'm going to keep the book from falling apart as I work.

Wonderfully simple to mildly challenging pages, which are designed to tear out to use. One page has a complex single butterfly, and the next will have a variety of butterflies, each a little different and unique. The Vive le Color! series all have a stiff, firm back covers, which can serve to support your pages as you color. The single improvement to this would be if they could have it fold-out with two folding stiff pieces. They could keep the book closed when not in use, and fold open to form an easel, with paper clips on the sides to hold the page. Each book has 72 pages, which tear out from the top of the book. More countries will soon be published too, so get your pens and pencils ready!

I am an avid, adult colorist and love butterflies, so I had to add this to my collection. I love the style of the book and the beautiful pictures. The lines are lighter than most books, so it's easy to outline, in another color, if you'd like. Some of the picture have small details, so I recommend a very thin, fine line media of your choice. ***For those that follow my reviews, YES I do pay full price for some things. LOL****

I'm quite addicted to coloring books. Whether I finish them or not, I love to collect to them, so I always have a variety on hand. I have decided that these little books are by far my favorite series. I own this one now and the "Hearts" one. They are the perfect size for traveling, you can throw one in a bag or purse and you're ready to go. The paper is excellent quality and tears out nice and neatly if you want it to. The absolute winner for me though, are the designs. Too many books have thick blacks lines or way too small crevices to fill that you don't even don't see any color. These are nice medium and large designs that really give the chance to color!

I have several of the colouring books in this series. They never fail to impress. Love the way the pages fully open up to allow the whole page to be coloured.

I love it. I am so glad that they brought out coloring books for adults, I have always loved coloring. It is very relaxing and takes your mind off of everyday life stuff. Thanks, when funds allow, I will definitely be buying other coloring products.

Ordered this along with Doodle Artists Butterflies. This book is just what I expected and wanted. Lovely intricate designs and good quality paper. Not so for the Doodle Artist I'm afraid...be aware if you're thinking of buying either
