Dowel Rods Wood Sticks Wooden Dowel Rods - 3/8 x 36 Inch Unfinished Hardwood Sticks - for Crafts and DIYers - 25 Pieces by Woodpeckers

I live in a rental and don't have a workshop to complete projects that require sawing and sanding. My SIL made the yarn holder and drilled the holes. He cut a couple of 3/8"x 48" dowels into 8" pieces but there was some splintering, plus I found I needed more and a longer length. Found these. They were perfect in length and quality. The dowels were smooth and 3/8" in diameter. A tad over 12" but every dowel is the same length. The count was accurate - 25. The dowels were straight with no visible damage (no bends, cracks or discolorations). Nothing to catch the yarn fibers. No extra work needed.

These are high-quality wood dowels. I used them to make pull wands for my drapes. They work great and they're a lot cheaper than buying those wands.I drilled a hole in the end of each dowel and put a keyring loop through it. Then I attached that to the curtain with decorative brass safety pins.These are strong enough for cat string toys too.

These were as described. Good quality. Straight, well sanded, uniform. They took stain well. I used them to make a vertical wine rack. When inserted into holes drilled into a 2x4, they held full bottles of wine just fine.

These are MUCH bigger than what I thought they were and I’m not sure I can use them, but perhaps my husband can make some use out of them. If I wasn’t in such a rush to get what I needed, it might have occurred to me that this were much wider, but when you’re trying to fill an order and time is running out, you do dumb things. LOL That said, they are nicely packaged and very sturdy pieces. And yes, I could return them, but I’ve received so many this holiday season that required returning (poor packaging, missing pieces, damaged items) that I decided to find a use for these rather than return them.

Update 10/2/17 - After multiple orders I continue to be impressed with the consistently high quality of the Woodpeckers dowels. Great value for crafters!Update 1/17/17 - I previously posted a good review of my first-ever order. I have since re-ordered additional packs and am pleased to be able to report that the product quality is very consistent pack-to-pack: size is precise, no need for extra sanding, all pieces are usable to make cat-toys to sell for fund-raising for the non-profit cat rescue group I work with. (With craft-store packs there's often one with a blemish or a splintered-spot that I have to put aside for non-sale uses.) A+ product, highly recommend for crafters!Original post: I use this size wand in making crocheted wand-toys for cats to sell for rescue fundraising, need the wood to look nice and feel very smooth in the hand. These met expectations for uniformity of size/length, minimal blemishes in the wood, nice even cuts with no need for extra sanding. Very pleased with this product!

1st- Said 25. Got 26. Thanks. Very sturdy! Got these to restart my hand at macrame. Wish me luck... And anything else I can think of. Hoping using my hands more will help with neuropathy. A few have a little 'roughness' at one end, but no big deal. Wanted to buy thinner but in pks of 50!! I'll wait.

These dowels are perfect for a macrame wall hanging. The finish is smooth enough to move the cotton cords left or right to add more rope but I did find an occasional snag. For larger projects maybe consider a larger diameter or creating attachment points to hang along the sides and middle- when I added a full 3mm series of knotted cords across the dowel and hung it from the left and rightmost sides, it sagged a bit in the middle, which is understandable considering how heavy the material ended up being. These are also very reasonably priced.

We use the dowels for handles in a "casserole carrier" made and sold in our church bazaar fund raiser. The material needs to be smooth and pleasing to hand. This was our first order and we were prepared to smooth wood imperfections.... didn't find any! We only had to cut to length and insert into the carrier. Totally happy with a quality product and will be using this source again. The dowels were tightly wrapped and well packed which surely prevents nicks and gouges.
