Search for the perfect strap
Having suffered too many broken or uncomfortable straps on my laptop bag, I came to Amazon in search of the perfect strap. After looking at way too many product reviews, I narrowed it down to five different straps and put them to the test. The Contenders:• Victorinox Comfort Fit Shoulder Strap• OP/TECH USA SOS Strap for bags• Skooba Superbungee Strap• Travelon Shoulder Strap• Klein 58889 Padded Adjustable Shoulder StrapThe Klein Strap is really intended for tool bags. As such, it is extreme duty. If I wanted to take a bag to war, this would be the strap I’d get. I can’t imagine it ever breaking or falling apart. That said, it is not going to work for extended carrying (ie., running through airports) – it’s just not comfortable enough for extended use.The Travelon strap gets good reviews and it is moderately comfortable. The shape of the padding allows it to be easily thrown over either shoulder and the price is right. However… It slides. There just isn’t enough grip on the padding and it easily slips off your shoulder. If you wear your strap across the chest like a messenger bag, then his is probably the one to get.The Skooba strap. It’s large and in charge – probably the most comfortable of the five straps, but you’re certainly paying for the comfort – this isn’t cheap. The bag feels 50% lighter with this strap compared to the others – the suspension system really works. But, it also slides – there is just not enough grip in the padding to keep it on your shoulder. If you have small shoulders, it’s even worse due to the width of the padding. The padding width and lack of curve also makes across the chest carrying awkward. The OP/TECH. Again, the price is right and a close second in the comfort department to the Skooba. I really like this strap, has enough grip to stay on your shoulder without sliding and the neoprene really works to reduce the feeling of weight. Added bonus in that the straps can be disconnected from the hooks and can be fed through a buckle system. However, this strap just doesn’t feel like it’s going to hold up to heavy use. It feels somewhat lightweight. The Victorinox. This strap excels in the grip department – I have absolutely no fear of this thing slipping off my shoulders. The padding is moderately comfortable, maybe just slightly more comfortable than the Travelon, but nowhere near the OP/TECH or Skooba. It appears well constructed and looks like it will hold up to heavy use (and it should, given the price).Final results? None get 5 stars. The Victorinox is going on my laptop bag. It has the right mix of grip/durability and comfort, but at the highest price of all five. I’m keeping the OP/TECH as well and will use it for a lighter bag – I’ll report bag on whether it holds up long-term. If it does, then it may graduate to the laptop bag and become the final 5-star winner. The other three straps are going back. In the end, they just didn’t make the cut for my usage.----------12/28/2016----------After 3 years thought I'd revisit this review. I'm still using this strap on a daily basis on my laptop bag. The strap has actually outlived 2 bags at this point and, aside from a little discoloration of the black plastic ?plastic? at the strap/shoulder pad connection, still looks and performs as brand new. Exceptionally pleased with this product and changing it to 5 stars.FWIW, the Op/Tech is still in regular use on my camera bag (dslr, so not exactly a light weight). While it doesn't get the same use and abuse as the Victorinox, it also looks and performs as brand new and I'm very happy with that strap as well (albeit I still don't think it would hold up to the usage of my laptop bag).

DOES NOT SLIDE - BUY THIS ONE!
I bought this shoulder strap because of the reviews that said it doesn't slide and it doesn't Thank you reviewers.. I have a strap I bought 2 years ago and it stays in place on some fabrics but not others. I bought this to attach to my various handbags. I fill them up with so much junk I think is so necessary that they weigh alot and are much too heavy to carry. This shoulder strap stays in place and does not slide. The padding is very ample yet light weight. It is very wide and curved just right so it doesn't cut into your shoulder. The underside of the shoulder pad has thin rubber treads. I wore this over a cotton summer blouse today and didn't feel it. It wasn't uncomfortable at all. Schlepped all over the city, in and out of stores and my bag didn't slide off my shoulder once. Swivel hooks move with the motion of the bag to prevent twisting. I confirm the manufacturer's description.. Fiinally my search has ended with the perfect shoulder strap. Worth every penny. This is so inexpensive compared to the price of handbags. All my handbags have black in them so this doesn't interefere with my fashion sense..I'm ordering one for my husband now . He couldn't believe how perfectly this shoulder strap works and how comforatble it is.. Remember, this really doesn't slide!!!!!..

Solid, Sturdy, Well-Made, if not Super-Comfortable Strap
Overall I am happy with this strap. It is certainly well made, and seems quite durable and sturdy (which it should be for the price). My previous strap (different brand) was not as solidly constructed, but it had much more stretch and elasticity to it that made it incredibly comfortable. This strap has some give to it, but is a bit more rigid than I expected, so not quite as comfortable when walking long stretches through airports. Overall, though, I’m still pleased with the purchase, as I have a feeling this strap will last for a long time.

I don't have any better suggestions though
Fair. I kept it and use it, but it slips off my shoulder more than my previous one that finally wore out. I don't have any better suggestions though.I also wasn't too happy that both of the snaps worked off while my bag was under the airline seat. I was resting my feet on it, etc. as I have done many times before, so very strange that they both came off. A more secure snap would be better.

Extremely comfortable strap and well worth the price
I was a little hesitant to pay this much for a strap, but prior reviews said this was a very sturdy and well made strap. And I was needing to buy this because I'd already broken two other makers' straps. Well the prior rave reviews were spot on. This strap is very substantial and well crafted of good materials. And I'm especially impressed with how well it is designed. The wide curved shoulder pad is great, but the stretchability of the padding and the raised gripping surface on the underside really keeps the strap in place. It just won't slip off your shoulder accidentally. That alone makes the strap worth the price. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat, but the way this one is built, I doubt I'll ever have to. Very satisfied customer.October 2014 Update: Strap has been in daily use for 18 months and shows no wear at all. Still performs perfectly. Handles heavy (30+ pounds) with ease. Wish my shoulder held up as well. Still very satisfied with this strap.
