Well built. Fairly easy to install. Read the reviews.
I hope this information helps: I just installed this yesterday on my Chevy 2500HD. The instructions could be better but I've seen worse. First, the kit includes two sets of hex head (allen wrench) bolts. it also includes a spacing block that is NOT needed on 2500 and 3500 trucks. You only need the longer bolts if you use the spacing block. Use the shorter bolts to assemble the step before installing it on your truck bumper. Now on to the bumper area. There are two metric bolts under the rear end that help attach the bumper to the truck. You MUST remove both nuts from the bolts because the bolts are connected to each other on the bolt head side with a metal strap that was not easy to see. I used a rubber mallet to tap the bolts free after I removed the nuts. The existing bolts are about 1/2" too short for mounting the step. They are size: M12 and about 1 3/4" in length. You will need to supply your own replacement bolts in order to mount the step. I think the SAE version is 7/16" but I didn't have any on hand so I had to go to the nearby hardware store for bolts. I found M12-1.75 X 50mm bolts that fit perfectly. I was able to reuse the existing nuts. Just in case, I added M12 washers to the bolt head side. I was able to use an 18mm deep socket when reattaching the nuts but the bolt heads required a 19mm wrench or short socket. The step was in line with the bumper (not crooked as some other folks have said) and seems very sturdy. It folds almost completely under the bumper. I am pleased with it so far.

Great product that would be perfect if the correct mounting bolts were in the kit.
I have been wanting to purchase this Bedstead for awhile and finally pulled the trigger. It is a very high quality product that is very well engineered and works flawlessly. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that the bumper mounting bolts on my 2002 Silverado 2500HD were not long enough to mount the bedstep. Fortunately I have a supply of metric bolts here at my home and it only took a few minutes to find the appropriate replacement bolts to complete the installation. If you purchase this product, and I recommend that you do if you desire easy access into the bed of your truck, you will need to be ready to purchase 2 additional 18mm, or 1/2”, bolts 1-1/2” or 2” long. If you buy 18mm bolts then the factory nuts will work. Otherwise you will need to supply 1/2” nuts, washers, and lock washers. This has been commented on by many purchasers, so I am not sure why AMP Research has opted NOT to proved new bumper mounting bolts, but they do not. If the new bolts had been in the kit I would have rated this a 5.

Works well for my old legs.
It was getting harder and harder to get in and out of my pickup truck bed as I get older. Jumping down from the tailgate also put extra pressure on my ankles. I installed the Bedstep on my 2001 Chevy truck and it works well, both with the tailgate down or up. I did have to purchase new bolts to mount it to the truck, since the original bolts that were on the truck were too short. If GM had not ground off the last 1/2 inch of the bolts (I guess they do this to make them easier to install) the original bolts would have worked. I had trouble finding metric nuts/bolts this large, so I just used 7/16" nuts/bolts. I suggest putting the bolt in from the Bedstep side, since the Bedstep has recessed holes, and putting a washer, lock washer, and nut down in that hole would be difficult. The step lowers and snaps back into place easily, and now it is a lot easier to get in and out of the bed of the truck with the Bedstep. The Bedstep came with 2 extra bolts, and I have no idea what they are for. The directions show the bolts in the inventory of what is included, but then there is no mention of them again.

Great product but missing bolts.
Start with bolts missing for installation on a 3/4 ton truck. And because I wasn't paying enough attention 2 trips to the hardware store. I love the product it works great but the trips to the store irritated me.

Did I receive the wrong parts?
I purchased this for my buddies 2000 Silverado, crew-cab long bed, 2 wheel drive.First I attached the mounting bracket to the folding arm as instructed (can only go on one way) without the extra spacer per the instructions, because this is a 3500.I then removed the two factory bolts from the bumper bracket to the frame, and when I went to mount the assembly it wouldn't line up properly, it wanted to go in on an angle and not seat in flush because it was hitting the bumper bracket? So I decided to see if the spacer would allow for more clearance, in which it did but still not enough. So, I took out my angle grinder and notched the bumper bracket. I did get it to go in and got it tight, however when the step is folded down its not in line with the bumper (like your pictures show), it's at an angle. Also, had I not use the included spacer that I was instructed NOT to use, the step would have hit the bumper on the way back up before bottoming out on the bracket itself like its supposed to.I'd like to hear back from the seller on this. I can take pix underneath if needed?

Not cheap but works amazing
While it wasn't cheap, it works absolutely perfectly. My grandfather who isn't that flexible due to his age and go up and down in his pickup bed no problem. It's easy to drop down and a tap with your foot and it tucks right up. Where it mounts was slightly harder to install than my F150 but not hard by any means with a second set of hands.

May need to purchase longer bolts that what are on the truck already.
Had to modify by buying the bolts that were longer, but otherwise is a great add on the truck and fairly easy to install with the longer bolts.

Great product
I've got one on my F-150, and love it. I use it more than the bed steps on the side of the truck bed. I couldn't live without it. If the tailgate opens, this step is down. Mine has lasted 4 years and is still going strong. So I bought this one for a friend as a Birthday gift. He's a carpenter, and always getting in and out of the bed of his truck for tools. He's a whole lot happier now.
