It keeps the tire secure.
I have had one on my tire four eight years, and I decided to replace it with a new one, when I replaced all of my other outdoor locks.

Fit perfectly and and key coded correctly. Easy to use.
Liked the product and security provided for spare tire. Cons is that bolt is to long if you want to put a cover over the Wheel

1 key convenience is great
One thing I hate is needing extra keys for things. I've used other spare tire locks in the past, but hated that I had to have extra keys around to unlock them. I also HATE standard wheel locks. Too easy to lose the key, (or if the tire shop forgets to put it back in the vehicle when the job is done) and then you're really screwed. The fact that this uses the ignition key for the Jeep to keep the spare tire secure is something I LOVE! And it's painfully simple to install. My only complaints is it does stick out quite a bit from the face of the spare tire. Which will make it a bit cumbersome, if not impossible to run a spare tire cover. It's also a little expensive for what it is. I lucked out and there was a used one available for a discount. Which is what put me 9ver the edge of buying. Otherwise I probably would not have bought it.
