Worked well for two weeks, then died. Problem appeared like this. You turn it on and after 30 seconds it starts to produce hissing sound and shot itself off long before boiling. I thought water got inside somehow, even though I only fill it in half. I let it dry for a day directing hair drier inside to get it warm. It didn't help. I had to return it and was upset because I really liked it from all pints except I need working kettle. This is strange behavior because it looks like it was done well and doesn't look like manufacturer tried to save couple of bucks. From engineering point (externally) some expensive solution were implemented, thick stainless steel was used all over. So, all in all, if you need just nice piece of equipment on the shelf, it is OK to buy. But if you needed to work and boil water, this is totally different story :) And, don't forget it uses European 220v and has European plug. It says on the label 220-240v 50-60Hz and even though it is German company, it was made where? Yes... in China. Probably Proudly, but I can't say for sure. Maybe not. I can use equipment from anywhere as I have these jacks and wiring in my home and I use lots of equipment from all over the world. Most people do not have this ability, so they buy it for export and bring to other countries only to discover it may stop working shortly.

Plastic parts inside.
One of the reasons why these products are made of stainless steel is to avoid plastic. But manufucturers seem to be obssesed with plastic. I was very annoyed to find little plastic components in the interior part of this kettle, apparently, to create access for the water level indicator. I could see the water level from the top opening. Disappoibted.
