Easy to use
Worked great, I was able to save all my pictures to a flash drive from my iPad
S**.
The new iOS seems to have broken it, submit bug reports about it.
This adapter worked well for quite a while. I found it worked a lot better for flash drives and SD card adapters since it is powered using the lightning port. It didn't charge my phone too well but the usb device connection was very stable compared to the non-powered lightning to USB OTG adapters. However, with the recent iOS updates it no longer works. It will say “this device requires too much power” as if the lightning port is disabled. However, if you can find an iPhone with an older iOS (e.g. 16.1, the current is 16.5 at the time of writing) you will probably find it surprisingly DOES work. I noticed this started since updating to 16.4 or 16.4(a). I’m going to submit a bug report about it. You all should too, because I don’t think the adapters are necessarily to blame. Perhaps there is a revision coming to them as well that would warrant RMAs. There may some device security patch against them and thats why they no longer work and we can get them replaced.Edit 6/25/23 — Apple has released iOS 16.5.1 and highlighted that these adapters have been FIXED. Update to 16.5.1 and try using them again. Hope this helps!

If you need to connect an Ipad to a keyboard, this is it.
Has worked perfectly since I bought it, X years ago, just now getting around to writing the review.1) works perfect ever time. I had bought at least 3 third party connectors for less $$ and of course they either didn't work or only worked for a while. ** Just bite the bullet and buy the apple product from day one.2) Love the ability to charge at the same time. Many times I have wanted to play but then the Ipad is at 10%, with this a plug in and bamn! back in action.

Peep Game. Real Recognizes Real.
I snagged a ware house deal and received a seemingly fake item. I’m not sure how this happened, but I hope I get my full refund back for the occurrence. The fake one’s appearance consists of a blue “3.0” USB port and the connection symbols printed are inconsistent with the box’s image/product page’s image.I did not bother using the non-authentic product. However, I’d assume it should work. Had to edit this in order for it to be accepted, smh..The genuine product works wonders though. For the record, the genuine product works on iOS 15 still, but keep in mind that you’ll need a power source in order to use it with a USB device. I can’t confirm the product’s functionality on iOS 16 & 17. I should have mention this earlier: I used this product with an iPhone 12 mini (iOS 15).2024-07-06 Update: I hope this doesn’t get censored. I ordered another used product and I received a Walmart (onn.) 3.5mm adapter to lightning usb adapter. With a 15-day return window. Make sure to check your packages because the outside is a genuine Apple Box with the inside product being swapped. Ordered 4 items and two were bait-n-switches. Best of luck y’all.

Pricey, but works better than the rest
I have tried about 4 of these iPhone dongles from various sellers. I think most of them are probably made from the same manufacturer in China. They are inexpensive when compared to this Apple-branded dongle, but they don’t work well. Every single one of them I tried would cut in and out or stop working and then I would need to unplug it from the phone and plug it back in. None of them worked consistently. The Apple camera adapter seems to be consistent and doesn’t cut out when using it. One difference is the Apple device can update itself with new firmware, which is a good thing. Another thing is the Apple dongle will complain about the device plugged into it taking too much power before one of the cheap ones would.I purchased a cheap (Mogood) USBA 1 to 3 splitter cable and plugged that into the Apple dongle and then use a battery pack to power the dongle when away from home. This seems to work well and allows me to plug in my Apple keyboard, mouse, and USB sound dongle.Overall, I’m pleased with it. I knocked off one star because I think it is a bit too expensive.

You need this after ios 17
I bought all those iphone usb drives and had the usb-c for ipad pro and it never worked. So after the last product I used failed I gave in and bought this expecting files app not to recognize it and have to use an app for it similar to older ipads. Nope open files popped it in with a small exfat usb and it worked. My ipad was doing this recently with the new update so I tried this after the last product was a failure. The files app was supposed to support this a year ago and didn’t. I misplaced it and didn’t expect it to work. But it did and the only difference was the 3.0. If you have an iphone and it runs ios 17 this is all you need it is slow but it works with no need for other apps. Just make sure it is the official apple product it works fine and other than needing power for big transfers it will work perfectly.
