The seller sent an email before I received the bottle asking that I wash the bottle properly and assuring the insides are safe even if they look dirty. Wiping my finger along some of the stuff I could reach would seem to validate the seller's statement that it's just oxidized copper, but the two large areas at the bottom inside that I couldn't reach by hand? When I broke one loose, it looked like something else. I honestly don't know what it was. Needless to say, I won't be drinking anything out of the bottle. I would return it, but I already discarded the original packaging.To the seller: If it's safe and easy to clean as you claim, then clean the bottles prior to shipping them to the customer.

The product looks and feels great BUT it had a black substance in the bottle that I can't get out. It smells like a motor oil type product or heavy smelling industrial grease. I got a majority of it out but there are still traces left in there that I can't reach. I used hot water, vinegar and salt which shined it up but didn't remove the black gunk. If I drink water immediately it tastes fine. If I let the water sit in the bottle for any amount of time over an hour or two I can taste a foul flavor. I would have given 4 stars minis the black gunk. It needs a better rubber seal and one that won't fall off so easy. I'd recommend another brand until they work out the filth that comes in the bottle.

Inside of the bottle is disgusting. The cap looks like it was heavily used. Terrible product. See attached pictures.

It is beautiful, the picture doesn't do it justice. The picture looks dull, but the bottle is gleaming shiny copper. It does smell like oil inside and washing several times has not gotten rid of it. I had the same thing with a Klean Kanteen though, its pretty normal because all the raw materials are oily. There was a dime/quarter sized clump of some type of fur/wool in the container which made me laugh and be grossed out at the same time. There was a black stain where the fur/wool was located in the bottom but it cleaned right out. Needless to say I washed it with hot soapy water about 5 times. There was a 1 inch dark spot near the neck that did not clean out with soap and water. I put about a tablespoon of table salt, and a 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar in the bottom, put the lid on and then shook it vigorously and the spot went away and the inside is perfect now, no spots whatsoever. The lid is amazing, I'm not sure how they did that and it is perfect. The lid and threads work fine. I think if I get the oil smell out I'll be using it often. I would give it 5 stars if it didn't smell like oil. We'll see if the vinegar cleaned the oil smell out as well.

This copper vessel is very hard to open and close, so I don't EVER close it all the way. Just enough to keep critters from getting in. I keep it on the counter, and keep it filled. I use it to fill up the stainless bottle that my son uses. I would never consider taking this out of the house, because I wouldn't ever be able to open it. Even though I barely close it, it's hard to open and VERY loud. I once brought it upstairs in the bedroom where my husband was sleeping, and the sound of me opening it woke him up. He now calls me the midnight rambler, lol, and said it was a horrifying sound to wake up to. Haha! I bought it because my son has Vitiligo, and I read that water from a copper vessel is good for it. I have seen a little improvement, but I can't say for sure it's from the bottle. In any case, we use it and I am glad we are giving it a shot. But heed my warning, NEVER close it all the way!!

Update: after I got passed the difficult to remove label, I have really enjoyed the product. If you follow the directions and rinse with lemon water or vinegar- the water does NOT taste like metal. And it really is a beautiful bottle.It's made to be used at room temperature, or there is a condensation issue. But that was clearly listed in the product info.I received an email from the company and they are making every effort to fix the label issues and other enhancements. And they hope they will be available next month or two (today is August 26, 2016).My prior review, sent while I was a still peeling the label off:I haven't even tried the product yet. But I am SO annoyed about the crappy label on this beautiful copper bottle. It doesn't come off (one of those that comes off 1/10 of an inch at a time. And leaves 1/2 the underside of the label still on.)They didn't even take the time to place it evenly on the bottle either- tons of lumps and bumps. Plus it's cheap and ugly.I just squirted 1/2 a bottle of Dissolve-It (like goo-be-gone) on it. Hopefully it takes it off.I was afraid I'd scratch it with my nails taking it off manually. PLUS, I don't have 4 hours to remove it.It's 2016, I don't believe I've received anything with this terrible a label since the 90's.BOOOOOOOOO!!!!!Picture is taken AFTER I sprayed the Desolve-It on the bottle.

I just received mine and not happy at all! not new and looks bad inside. Pic attached.I spent a good $29.85 which is not easy money on this stuff expecting a good service, sorry. I'm returning it!

Okay so I'm not a picky person..like at all. I was very excited to get this in the mail because of the benefits I heard about. When I looked in the inside, I saw a bunch of black hair like shavings on the bottom, but I assumed it was just scratches on the copper or something. I just poured some water into it, to start washing it. And when I looked it was definitely little black hairs...WITH dead skin flakes. I wish I would have taken a picture it (because I know how disgusting and outrageous it sounds...and it was) but I poured it out in the sink out of disgust. I'm not sure where these are manufactured. I doubt the owner/manufacturer intended on that happening, it was probably a gross employee. But because of that, I'm giving it 2 stars. The copper and bottle itself is beautiful but hygiene wise....thumbs down.

Defekte Flasche - läuft ausSchweißnaht am oberen Rand der Flasche nicht perfekt gelötet - absoluter Qualitäts- Produktfehler.. Flasche kann man so nicht verwenden, da ständigig Auslaufen bei Bewegung - geht in den Abfall.- reine Geldverschwendung. So ein mangelhaftes Produkt sollte nicht auf Amazon verkauft werden. Zudem war die Flasche auch am unteren Rand eingebeult - das war kein Transportfehler, denn die Verpackung war einwandfrei.
