First book ever to leave me in tears.
A wonderful story of humanity, good and bad. I don't want to give out spoilers, but will just say that two very different families with very different opposing thoughts, beliefs and lifestyles come together due to the relationship of their teenagers. This book discusses teenage angst - cultural issues - young forbidden love - violence - racism - and cleverly brings together prejudices and forgiveness in a beautiful way. Had me in tears, and that doesn't happen easily.

Wow what a powerful book
I love reading books by this author and when I saw this book and read the reviews I knew I needed to read this too. This book can be a hard read but I am glad that Linda wrote this. I feel it is a book that needs to be read and talked about especially in schools where children can follow the crowd to fit in but they don’t think of the consequences of their actions. I highly recommend reading this book.

Sad story but very true
You can see from very early on in this story that it's only going to go one way when you know it's about different cultures, religions and the mixture of both. Linda Green tells a very powerful and realistic story that unfortunately in today's world is true in many countries. The racial abuse is common and widely reported in various news medias. The sad thing is not everyone agrees with this and this story gives a fair response to what a lot of people feel about the "live and let live" attitude in society today. Life is too short to only feel hate for other people! Well done Linda Green.

Thought provoking
A book about racism and hate in modern Britain but also of love between two teenagers from different backgrounds, with families that don't want them to be together because of the colour of their skin.A very sensitively written book, heartbreaking whilst also warming. A book that makes you sit back and think what would I do and what could I do.A definite 5 star read for me.

Absolutely brilliant book
A modern day Romeo and Juliet, set in West Yorkshire admist the backdrop of Brexit. This is a must read; it's real, and gritty and absolutely captivating. This book isnt an easy read because it holds so many uncomfortable truths about the society that we exist in but it is an important one. One to experience the life experiences of others that we may have been privileged not to experience ourselves; one that brings every bit of 'prevent' training that I've ever done to the forefront of reality. The author says in her notes that it is not a political book, it's a story about humanity. One I hope we learn from, because love is bigger than hate.

Thought-provoking, hard-hitting story about love and hate in modern Britain
I loved this story. It's cleverly written, with the stories of the two families intertwining. Green shows how easy it is for teens to be sucked into a far right movement - and the terrible potential consequences. Beautifully written love story and realistic characters. I loved it.I'd recommend this to teens, to show them what could happen. We are all human beings, no matter the colour of our skin.

Thought provoking
It me a while to get into this book, but I then couldn't put it down, reading into the early hours. Waves of emotions taking over as I read. Imagining as a loved one how I'd feel throughout the story. Well done Linda Green, I look forward to your next book.
