Good value for money.
You get what you pay for, so I was not disappointed that this collection of stories does not measure up to the work of better known authors. Some of the tales lacked plausibility while others seemed more like science fantasy than science fiction. Some meanings might have been lost in translation but the author's use of philosophy and culture seemed unnecessary to the story lines and certainly was not to my taste, having grown up with the work of Asimov, Heinlein, Herbert etc. However, there were some interesting ideas and the author has potential.

Cracking great stories, well written and articulated
Don't start a story is you haven't the time to finish it. These stories will make you late for meetings and over sleep next day. A real box set antidote. The stories start from a real world perspective and weave in the fantastical in subtle and imaginative ways. This one going top of my best book read of the year list and I real a lot of books.

Right questions with no defined answers
Absolutely amazing. Liu Cixin asks just the right type of questions, and gives you no set of answers. It made me interchangeably happy and sad, angry, despondent, pacified, elated, frustrated - all this mix'n'match of feelings that make us human.

Mixed bag
I found this a mixed bag, for my taste. I flicked through a couple of stories that were a bit too political or warlike for me, and stuck to those that seemed more like my old favourite science fiction style.

Excellent short stories
Not quite up to the standard of the Three-Body Problem trilogy but these short stories are good both as sci-fi and as insights into modern Chinese society

A far cry from the Three Body Problem
Too many of the short stories here are parochial, maudlin or just to far from SF and into fantasy. I know this writer is excellent, these just weren't my cup of tea.

Entertaining short stories...no three body problem but enjoyable
Pretty good....not a patch on the three body problem but I enjoyed it.

Such incredible stories!
Several of these stories will stay with me for life - especially Mirror and The Thinker. I love how the author blends science and art. Great stories help us understand our own nature and sometimes inspire us to dream to be more. Many of the stories in this book did that for me.
