Q: Anyone match this with a Samsung 980 Pro in a ps5?

I installed this in my PS5 successfully on 09/15. It passed the minimum read speed after install and I I've since installed over 1 TB of games onto it. Note I did install a third party heatsink from Be Cool in accordance with Sony's recommendation to use a heatsink on any installed third party m.2 SSDs if they don't come with a preinstalled heatsink.

Q: Does this item have an adhesive backing? Tool-free installation?

these are semi adhesive yes, the adhesive is sufficient to stick to the heat spreader and support it

Q: Please clarify what is the depth in millimeters? You list both 2mm & 4mm multiple times in different sections and pictures.

The one that you asked that question on is 4mm unless you go to the 2mm one and buy that one. Either one can fit in most laptops or some areas. But I would recommend not put anything on top or over it. And having some airflow if any can benefit alot and help dissipate more heat.

Q: will both work with ps5 ssd installs or just the smaller one?

I bought n used the thick 1, 4mm I believe and it fit perfectly in the ps5 with the expansion cover installed.
