Natural Balance L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets Dry Dog Food with Grains, Lamb Meal & Brown Rice Formula, 28 Pounds

I cannot praise this Natural Balance Limited Ingredients enough. I am using the Lamb Meal & Brown Rice formula. My two Border Collies are thriving on this Natural Balance kibble, and really enjoy the taste. In fact, if it's near meal time (I feed twice daily) they both come to me and remind me it's time for kibble. Moistened with a little warm water, the kibble stays crunchy and forms a nice little gravy. I had previously been feeding an expensive other grain free brand that had 4lbs less per bag and was higher priced. Then I found an article by a veterinarian stating recent studies by the FDA have found that dogs fed "grain free" food based on peas, lentils or potatoes are developing an unusual condition that can cause an enlarged heart. And it was seeing these enlarged hearts in breeds that were not genetically pre-disposed to canine dilated cardiomyopathy. I was horrified. I will literally pay any price to ensure my dogs are eating the very best quality food. I was paying a fortune for food that could compromise their health! After hours of checking ingredients from various dog foods, Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets Lamb Meal & Brown Rice is the ONLY high quality grain free dog food I could find that did NOT contain these potentially harmful ingredients. Peas, chickpeas, lentils or potatoes (even sweet potatoes) are all linked. “We are concerned about reports of canine heart disease, known as dilated cardiomyopathy, in dogs that ate certain pet foods containing peas, lentils other legumes or potatoes as their main ingredients,” said the FDA’s Dr. Martine Hartogensis. I am so happy I found this article and switched my much loved Border Collies to Natural Balance Lamb Meal & Brown Rice. I hope other pet owners read this and research so they do not feed these other harmful dog foods unknowingly. The boys are thriving on Natural Balance. Their coats are shiny, digestion excellent, and they really enjoy the taste. Two very happy, healthy dogs with their vet reporting they are in excellent health.

I have been feeding this brand of food to my two dogs for approximately five years. I originally found it for my eight year old boxer who suffers from pancreatitis. The best way to control Boomer's (my boxer's) painful outbursts is to limit the amount of fat intake and by-products in his diet. Since Natural Balance has no additive products, what you read on the front of the package flavor-wise is all you are going to get. Another nice thing about this food is that you can feed it to puppies and adults alike. My second dog, a five year old mini doxie has eaten this food her whole life. It is nice not having to buy two different kinds of foods to feed two different style diets. I mix the flavor variety around occasionally, and that is it! I started serving this food to my Boxer over five years after spending three years trying food after food for him that just were't working. I also get complements all the time on how soft & great looking their coats are. They both just look really healthy.In comparison to other "high quality" foods out there that vet's all seem to recommed, you will find this brand much more reasonable and get a much better bang for your buck!! Unless your dog has some sort of health issue which requires a prescription type dog food, you really don't need to let your vet guilt you into spending a ton more money for the brands of food they represent in their clinics then you already have to pay for the vet visit as well.I used to buy Natural Balance from the expensive pet botiques, but since I found it here online, able to ship to my porch in two days, I will never run out and have to do the mad scramble to get to the pet store because I forgot to go the day before and we are out of food at home! I want to say first that I have no ill feelings towards either of the other dog foods that I have tried, they just did not work for my dog's situation.Currently, I have a 5yr old female pit bull mix. I started her on Hills SD adult dog food - i think it was called active longevity or something similar - it was for active adult dogs. since we had adopted her - and she was on this food, she vomited about once a week. At first I thought that she was eating too fast and then becoming active which may have upset her stomach. I started keeping her in her kennel for about 1/2-1 hr after she ate so that she could start digesting and maybe not have an upset stomach due to physical activity, but when she continued to vomit, I figured that it had to be something different. Since she's a pit bull, and we know that pit bulls have a tendency to have allergies I thought she may just have a sensitive stomach - I found the cheapest of the limited ingredient diets and decided to give the lamb and brown rice a try. She has been great ever since. Recently I thought I might try something cheaper (and I will not mention the brand name here) but I tried a sensitives stomach version of another brand and she began to throw up again.Previously, I had a border collie mix who i originally was feeding blue buffalo - he had constant diarrhea and i switched him over to the dick van patten's adult formula. he did great on this formula until he developed crystals in his urine and had to be switched to hills SD c/d - he also did great on this hills - but i have had such great experiences with the dick van patten's brand, that i had to write a review for them. this is a great brand!!!

Good food wish it came in a larger size bag

I am very happy with the Natural Balance dog food, our Doberman has allergies to chicken so it makes it hard to find a good food without all the chicken and other additives that are not needed. Buying at amazon with prime shipping free, I save money and receive my food within two days to my door. This would be very helpful for people that are not able to get out a lot.

Item describes 14 pound bag. It is not! It is only 12 pounds. Where are the other 2 pounds? Also, it is "small bites" not normal sized bites.

No wasted packaging this time. Food was as expected.
