Special Lite Products SHH-1006-BRZ Horizon Horizontal Mailbox, Bronze

Had this mailbox installed on my house. It looks nice and can hold a good amount of mail.

Made in China, you get what you pay for, but even still I was underwhelmed by this product. Has three holes in the back to mount on wall, but only two screws provided and it really needs 3 to be securely fastened. Small screws that have to be inserted from inside to fasten on the newspaper arms, poor design.

Made in China $60 + mailbox that looks great but is not heavy duty metal. As you can see in the photo, it’s a near perfect match to our front light fixture. So we’re very happy about that. We chose to mount it in our existing brick holes where we removed the old box, so we wouldn’t have to drill two new holes into our chimney wall. This was easily accomplished with a tape measure, center punch and cordless drill bit. However, if you go this route be a little careful because the back of the new box is pretty flimsy and will bend under pressure. If you do this, start with a very small bit and work up to the drill hole dimension of your choice. Some customers argued that the color isn’t really bronze but more of a copper tone. Judge for yourself. Also, I left off the magazine hold arms that install under the box and which are provided with their screw fasteners. Our mail carrier never used the ones we had on the old box and our newspaper carrier just launches our Sunday paper onto the driveway. This is the only time I wish it was still 1959. 😏

This is very stylish and spacious. The only drawback I have is that the lid rattles in windy weather and it can leak as well. A piece of tubing has helped with the leaking.

The metal and magazine holder are thick and I like the color. It did have the hardware out of the bag. My husband had to reinforce it to the house, as well as the hardware for the flap. It does not sit flack unless you drop it down. I like the size. There were other review saying similar problems but I like the box. The mail fits all the way inside. Despite those problems I wold still order it.

stylish and easy to install

This mailbox is very sturdy and a beautiful addition to the front of the house! The only negative thing about this was the screw where the lid is attached to the side was not attached all of the way....it almost looked like the side is panel was slightly bent to the point where it wont allow the screw to hold the lid in place and the lid wont shut without some manipulation. I am thinking it is a manufacturing issue (or shipping maybe?). Otherwise, I love it! I would order another and recomend to my friends and family (just because i think this was just a fluke in the manufacturing on this piece only).
