The best fucoidan extract I've tried
Since watching a video on youtube titled "What fucoidan has done for me," I've been researching Brown Seaweed, and trying various products. I've found 5 species of Seaweed being used to make "fucoidan" products. I break these into two classifications: the first is a plant dried (freeze dried is the best) and ground into powder, and the second is a cold water extraction of fucoidan. Although fucoidan is getting the majority of publicity, there are several other compounds/molecules in Brown Seaweed which are good for your health. Fucoxanthin is in the pigment of the plant, and causes fat cells to release fat. Alginates carry out heavy metals, such as lead and mercury. Laminarin modestly thins your blood. Fucoidan is a polysaccharide, and induces apopotosis (kills) cancer cells, and cuts off the development of capillaries to tumors. It encourages stem cells to go to an area of injury. It agglutinates pathogens (grabs them and pulls them apart). It gives you an energy boost, and could very well reverse the aging process.I've become an advocate for taking one dried plant supplement, and one concentrated fucoidan supplement. The least expensive of the dried plant supplements is bladderwrack. The high end is the Modifilan/Biofliam harvested from Laminaria Japonica, which is similar to aloe vera. The gel is scraped out of the plant and cool dried, but here is no cold water extraction process. At the low end of the ground plant supplements, but still good products, are Swanson's full spectrum Bladderwrack, and Nature's Way bladderwrack. The best combination I've found to date is Biofilam and Dr.'s Best Fucoidan. I've also used Solaray Bladderwrack with Dr.'s Best fucoidan, and like that combination. I've used Swanson's fucoidan alone, and liked it. My 79 year old business partner takes one Swansons fucoidan daily along with one Swanson full spectrum bladderwrack, and has a lot of energy from them. The fucoidan extracts give you a nice lift. I've felt that from Swanson's, and even more so from Dr.'s Best. I had a rather strange experience with Absonutrix fucoidan extract and don't recommend it. I like the Life Extension product, but it doesn't give me the lift that Dr.'s Best does.If you are low on money, and only want to take one fucoidan supplement, I'd recommend one Nature's Way bladderwack daily. You will experience benefits from it. The next step is to add a bladderwrack to a fucoidan extract. You could take the two Swanson products, and have a good result. The next step up is Dr's Best fucoidan, and the additional fucoidan in Dr.'s Best is in my opinion well worth the extra money. You could take an inexpensive Swansons's full spectrum bladderwrack with it. More expensive bladderwracks are Solaray, and Eclectic Institute (which is freeze dried). There is also a kelp product by Seagate which contains fucoidan that can be used in place of bladderwrack. It is also freeze dried before being ground. I find that the Nature's Way bladderwrack is very potent, and is better off taken alone. I haven't tried it, but one a day gives energy and a healthy glow to my friends who are taking it.If you haven't tried fucoidan, I highly recommend you do so sometime soon. If you can afford a mid range priced fucoidan product, Dr.'s Best is in my opinion the best way to go. I feel great after taking it. I have been taking one morning and night, along with a ground plant supplement to complement it, have lost some weight, have more energy, and believe they are turning back the hands of my biological clock.

For Cancer and much more.
I have read so much wonderful things about Fucoidan. It is derived from seaweed, and it most known for it's cancer fighting ability. The cancer fighting properties in Fucoidan make cancer cells self destruct and it inhibits metastasis of cancer cells with no side effects.Fucoidan boosts the immune system and helps your body ward off and fight many ailments other than cancer too. Below are some of the benefits.*Helps fight off viral infections*Reduces cholesterol*Prevetion and treatment for obesity*Relieves HIV, HSV, and Hepatitis C & D symptoms*Anticoagulant properties helps prevent strokes and heart attacks*Removes threats of free radicals*Reduces high blood pressure*Anti-cancer properties*Relieves chemotherapy and radiation side effectsUnlike some other Fucoidan products Doctors Best brand removes the sodium from the seaweed which is important because of the negetive affect that sodium has on ones body. The only down side of the product is you may overdose on iodine. So please becareful to not overdose. My cat was diagnosed with bone and lung cancer last spring. I have been mixing this product in his food, hoping it would help with his cancer. This Fucoidan comes in a capsule and it is a very fine powder so it is easy to mix in food. My cat seems to not mind, if it is mixed in with his wet food. If it is not mixed in, when he smells his food it gets into his nose and it seems very hard for him. So I would suggest to mix it with soft food, if you are giving it to animals since they do sniff what they eat. Its been over a year since my cat was diagnosed with cancer, but he is doing very well. Happy and eating and running around like his normal self.

Decreases my need for supplemental oxygen (I have metastatic Cancer in lungs)
I have breast cancer that metastasized to my lungs and am on an oxygen concentrator. I was only taking 2 pills per meal and my oxygen demands decreased at first but then crawled up to 5 Liters. Then, my Herbalist says to increase dosage to 3 pills 3 times daily and, voila, my oxygen demand decreased to 1.75 Liters. Then, it started crawling up again, so now I am on 4 pills, 4 times a day. Everyone will need different dosages so don't go by me. I have cancer all over my body and might need more than others, but do your dosage according to your individual needs. My herbalist also has me taking Beta 1,3 / 1,6 D-Glucan. Look it up.Update: as of 4/22/14, I'm off of the oxygen machine! It took 2 months and three weeks, but I did it. The only difference was boosting my Fucoidan pills to 16 per day, spread out throughout he day.Update: as of 9/24/14. I'm back on oxygen unfortunately. After I was off of oxygen in April, I caught a cold that went directly into my lungs and sent me back on oxygen and I've been on oxygen ever since. I have increased Fucoidan, but it still has not helped. But then, I added Paw Paw and daily exercise to my regime. Now, my oxygen requirements seem to be going down. We will see.Update as of 12/18/2014. I had sudden excruciating pain in my joints that made me bedridden for two months. The pain has subsided but the inactivity has made the cancer advance in the lungs. I am taking so many supplements that it's hard to squeeze in food. Fucoidan had to be dropped to 4 pills per meal, but it probably is not enough. It is not a magic bullet.

Dried me out
I took this for a month and it definitely helped me sleep but I was always thirsty and extremely dehydrated. Woke up with my mouth dry. Went down to one pill with no improvement. Did NOT give me energy. I could only take it at night because it was basically like a sleeping pill to me. I’m not sure if the iodine content was too high for me but I won’t be able to use this product any longer as my hands are literally cracking and I wake up feeling groggy and confused.
