Pierre LaszloSalt: Grain of Life

A VERY technical book to get through.
While I appreciate the author's knowledge and expertise from a scientific standpoint, this was a challenging book for me to read, as I am not as well versed in ancient historical facts such as were presented here. I found myself getting lost in the side stories and had to research many times just to comprehend the point being made with reference to salt or salt production.I DID, indeed, learn some valuable information though, which is what I was after.

A disorganized slow read...
I found this book to be poorly organized- a chore to follow and not worth the effort of reading... I would recommend checking for other resources on this subject.

Interesting start, then it goes off the rails
This book is pretty. And the idea is interesting. But after a pretty good start, it starts to read like a track written by a manic person who is connecting dots between everything. Salt and trade in salt might actually have played an important part of lots of world history, but the author loses perspective and starts rambling. And rambling. I quit reading it about half way through.

Five Stars
I wish that every person have and read this book.

not exactly my cup of tea, but may be of greater interest to other readers.
I hoped to learn about salt, but the essay is discursive - I am sure with things of interest to other readers.
