Coghlan's Replacement Shock Cord for Tents - 0196 18 ft. x 3/32 inch

My tent (7 year old REI Half Dome II) went from easy to set up to a gigantic pain once the bungees wore out. I was at the point of considering a new tent, but this worked great. It was relatively easy to re-string the tent poles, and there are plenty of tutorials online if you want some extra help. A few bucks and a little time to re-string it, and setting up my tent for a camping trip last weekend as back to being a breeze.I had just enough to restring all the poles, and I probably used a little too much on the first few. Using 3/4 of the length of the pole or even slightly less is fine and leaves a little spring in the cord.

I work with the Boy Scouts. I've repaired 5 of the damaged tent poles with all new cord. This one works very well for us.

I have replaced it with the original Big Agnes shock cord, it works well. One thing I have to mention is that the cord size is slightly thinner than the original one. 18 feet is exactly or more than enough to replace the shock cord as long as you do not make any mistakes. The price is cheap and worth the replacement yourself as long as you label each pole prior to taking out the old shock cord.

I purchased this cord for my REI half dome 2+ tent. I’ve had the tent for 7 years and the cord inside the poles was so stretched out they weren’t snapping together anymore. I actually cut one of the tent pole cords when an after-dark setup was taking too long, but that meant I needed to fix the pole before my next trip.I found a great video on YouTube for restringing the tent pole cords and they recommending this brand. I purchased two packs to ensure I had enough to work with and only used 75% of the cord. The last quarter is packed away with my tent in case I need it for emergency repairs on a trip. Straightforward product, great price, easy to work with. Highly recommend to anyone in the same predicament. It took less than an hour to restring the entire tent. $7ish of cord is way better than hundreds on a new tent.

Wasn't sure if this would be enough for my 2 person REI halfdome tent. I ordered 2 packs just to be sure. My tent has 4 long poles and one short one. One pack contained enough to easily rebungee the whole tent with about enough for another pole included. Great stuff, easy to install (depending on the tent design).
