Easy to do
My children loved it. Takes all night to set. After you need to paint it, so needs to dry.Better to do in the Friday Evening, so on Sunday kids will perform the experiments.

Great volcano project for kids
A great volcano kit for kids. It’s great that there are different stages to making the volcano, the plaster is really easy to make and the mould makes a fantastic shape of volcano. Then you get to paint the volcano, however I’ve deducted a star as there just wasn’t enough paint to cover it all, I had to purchase additional paint. But the overall finish looks very impressive and I have a very happy 8 year old!

Love it!
Bought this to make with my 5 year old son and we loved it!Day one- make the plaster and fill the mould- leave for 24 hours…. But of an anticlimax but had to be done- also bit messy as we let the mould lean over so it poured out but it cleans up easily!Day two- paint the volcano! We took the volcano out of the mould- was really easy to comeOut! Then we had great fun painting it and left it to dry.Day three- the eruption!! Have plenty of vinegar at the ready and use lots of the red dye- this was fun!!!! We loved it and we can reuse it again and again!I’ve bought another one as a gift and I’m getting more plaster so we can make another one- we loved it!!

Poorly written instructions
My son has started to use the set we bought at Christmas. The instruction set is written ambiguously and there is very little clarity over some of the steps. One of the steps states to place “rocks” in the tray (presumably the pebbles they supply) and states to pour the mixture over them, and then once the liquid has settled then to sprinkle the remaining crystals over it. Nothing to indicate if the pebbles should be submerged in the liquid, or one should be sticking out etc. The liquid did not stick to the rocks and the sprinkled crystals have sunk into the liquid. There is no guidance for what they mean by allowing the liquid to “settle” (solidify?) and no images to refer to at all. We have tried to put in three rocks that were mostly submerged but then couldn’t decided if that was wrong, so had to try and put more rocks on top of those and try to mix them a bit in the liquid (even though the liquid just ran off them). I have a feeling that no crystals will form at all, and if so we will be chucking this set in the bin and investing in one with proper instructions. I would not recommend this set.
