Olympic National Park Map (National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map, 216)

I always purchase maps from this series for planning purposes. You can typically see the entire park with all features on one map. It is not a super detailed topo, but it gives you a great overview of the terrain and the trails. It is also highly water resistant.I have about twenty of these maps, typically for the western United States. I use them with my hiking friends prior to embarking. For areas requiring extreme detail, I purchase USGS a topo map (generally available at the park). Nonetheless, Trails Illustrated maps are excellent maps and reveal a lot of information that you need before the hike.

We visit family on the Olympic Peninsula several times a year. We try to get out to explore at least one day each trip. This map is incredibly detailed, and fairly indestructible.I've tested coffee stains and erasable markers on it. They come off. Awesome. This will live in my glove box.What can you find on this map? Roads, trails, park and reservation boundaries, campgrounds, restrooms, boat launches, gas stations, elevations, zillions of little roads and trails, wilderness safety tips, wildlife regulations, even a compass declination wheel...

I keep this in my hiking bag in case of an emergency/if my GPS stops working. Shows all the trails, entrances and exits.

Every hiker that enters the backcountry knows you must carry a dependable map. This map has excellent detail plus most of any trails already out there and camp sites as well. I use GPS like most people but when you enter the backcountry without pre planned trails you need a map to do proper route planning. This map does everything you need for basic awareness and hiking needs.

The only one of the park in a single detailed map. The two sides show the East and then the West part of the park.

This is everything I expect from this map series. I only dinged it 1 star because of the awkward flip from front to back, but that's going to be unavoidable for a park the size of Olympic.

Similar to the free map you get at a Ranger Station or WIC, but with more details, contour lines, elevations, trail mileage, and more. Good quality paper stock that can stand up to the rigors of backpacking and resist water and humidity.

Great waterproof, tear resistant map. Very helpful with plotting points of interest to maximize limited time while Olympic National Park.

Good to take when no guarantee of cell service. Good level of information

Die Karte ist sehr genau. Da wir mit einem grossen Wohnmobil durch die USA und Kanada fahren, wollten wir vorab wissen, welche Strecken und Campingplätze, für unser Wohnmobil geeignet sind. In den Karten ist genau vermerkt, wo Campingplätze, Rastplätze, Besucherzentren usw. zu finden sind. Ausserdem sind jede Menge Wanderwege eingezeichnet, so das man sich jederzeit auf den Weg machen kann. Die Erklärungen bzw. Legenden sind zwar in Englisch, sind aber trotzdem leicht verständlich. Wir können die Karte nur empfehlen.

Hat mir sehr weiter geholfen. Genaue Straßen-/Wegbeschreibung auch der Wanderwege. Was ich auch sehr gut finde, die Karte ist "wasserdicht". Also genau das Richtige für Wanderer im Olympic National Park, wo man immer mit Regen rechnen muss.
