Vater3A Power Wood Tip Hickory Drumsticks, Pair

I chose these sticks because the reviews had said they are heavy and durable and can withstand the pressure of hitting hard. I find that these sticks are incredibly inconsistent. I bought 4 pairs of these sticks, the first being amazingly durable and lasted me almost 10 days. The second pair didn't last as long, perhaps 5 days, but still not Vic Firth bad. The third pair was noticeably lighter than the first 2 pairs, and broke within 30 minutes of playing. The sticks are completely worth the cheaper price, but be aware that each stick is different.

Bought my first pair and the sticks lasted a surprisingly long time for a rock drummer. Excited for my 2nd pair, got them shipped, taped em off, and literally my first hit the stick snapped (see attached photo). Now I'm wishing I wouldn't have wasted taping the stick in the first place. And I now have to go through the hassle of shipping/returning.

Vater 3A Nylon tips are my go to sticks with my metal style of play. They are slightly heavy to give power and well balanced to add versatility with dynamics. I've been using them for about 20 years, and really like the feel of them. I've tried a number of different styles and types but always go back to these. The nylon tips are nice on the ride, to ping out every note with its ball type shape. The sticks are a little shorter than the 5A/B's, which are very popular but never really liked the tips on them. The shorter stick, in my opinion, gives better control and has a quick feel dispite the heavy weight.I know a handful of metal drummers that use these and when they switched to them, they really liked them a lot, and dumped their old sticks.

For me I liked these better than the Vic Firth 3A, for the feel and the extra reach they have

Great sticks but you need to be strong like bull for these bad boys. No weak-wristed girly men for these thunder-chuckers.
