GREAT BIRD FEEDER!
I've tried them all..I find the biggest problem with most feeders is mold..this feeder allows the seed to breathe and stay fresher.. if it rains it then allows the sun to dry out the seed because it's not sealed into the usual plastic feeders..it's easy to refill and birds can feed from the tray or thru the mesh screen design.. we get all kinds of birds.. cardinals.. blue birds.. blue jays..warblers (seen here) titmouse.. and even woodpeckers.. the other feeder next to it is for smaller birds also works well to keep the larger birds away from it... and yes the SLINKY does work..(our squirrels still can't figure it out)

Great, but it is making it hard for my squirrels
After going through 3 different hanging bird feeders in months, I finally gave up and decided to get a metal one.My bird feeder is primarily for my squirrels, but my 3 squirrels and their visiting neighbors (total of 7-8) tend to go through wooden (sun melted the glue) and 2-lb capacity plastic ones (the plastic kept on breaking where the clear “windows” attached to the base) FAST. They - and visiting birds - go through 2 lbs of seeds in 2 days on average. Maybe 3 or 4 if there’s rain involved. This bird feeder is very nice. It’s small but expands when you lift it. Heavy and sturdy; no damage in sight after over a month outside. A lot of nuts go in - I buy whole, no waste nuts/seed mix - and it takes roughly 7-10 days to empty, which is great for my wallet! So it’s not entirely squirrel proof, but it does take them time to get the food. It’s funny watching them hang on as they try to get a hold of food. I’ve also seen my usual birds come by, but they live in surrounding yards and not mine, so they don’t eat that much. However, it means the squirrels look elsewhere for food and food storage, so they started digging in my garden again. I almost gave 4 stars for that BUT this product is listed as being squirrel proof, so though it’s not 100% effective, there is some effect on them so I can’t really fault the feeder.Overall, I am pleased with this purchase. I also bought a squirrel picnic table so they can get more food, but they go through that in half a day. My only concern is rain spoiling the nuts since the entire cage is mesh and the roof doesn’t extend far enough to make much of a difference in a storm, but it hasn’t really rained that hard since we got it, so I can’t say for sure. For the time being, I do recommend this product!

Bird feeder
The media could not be loaded. It’s a cute bird feeder, but it isn’t squirrel deterrent at all. They hang on the cage upside down, and chow down from the openings.

THE BEST BIRD FEEDER
I bought this bird feeder, it is the best I've used. Bought 2 more for friends for Christmas. Easy to load clip to lock top, metal, no cheap plastic. Large volume of seed lots of perches. I'm giving to others as gifts !

This feeder is not squirrel proof
I purchased this feeder because it was described as squirrel proof. I hung it on shrubs, trees and on a shepherds hook, but none of those options deterred my aggressive squirrels. Even if the mechanism worked as it should and collapses when a squirrel jumps on the perch, they can still eat the food on the tray that is not covered by the grated sides. However, it is cute and the birds like it, so I decided to keep it. It also holds about 4 pounds of food and is easy to fill. Just couldn't give it a higher rating because I am feeding my squirrels too!

Sturdy birdhouse.
Have only had this for a couple of days and the birds seem to love it. We wil have to wait and see if the squirrels stray away.

I would return if I had the packaging. It might be squirrel proof, but not small bird proof.
I feel I need to mention a safety issue. For everal days, the birds paid no attention to it. After a week I dumped the old seed, cleaned it and added new seed. Still nothing. Today I went outside to clean it out again, and I noticed quite a bit of the seed was gone. I opened the top, and found a sparrow fluttering around inside of it. I have no idea how long it was inside, but the portals are large enough to get inside. It had gotten above the shelf, and was well and truly trapped. It makes me sick to think I might not have found it in time. The sparrow flew away, and I replaced it with an old wooden feeder, and threw this one in the garbage. It might never happen again, but I won’t take the chance.
