Perfect commuting backpack
I commute with this bag 3-4 times a week, and it is very well designed. It is quite fashionable too, and works well as a backpack by itself.I work at a company with a large (multi building) campus, so throughout the day, I need to use it as a backpack as I walk / shuttle between buildings for meetings. During my commute (9 miles each way), I use it as a pannier.PROs:- Sturdy fabric and zippers, holds its shape well- Wide opening, zips fully open for easy access- laptop compartment fits my 13" MBP well, can probably go up to 15"- lots of pockets, and a mesh pocket as well- Clips that attach to the rack work great, easy on and off, secure during multiple bumps along the commute- Very light when emptyCONS:- Transforming the bag does take some getting used to- The bag is quite long (due to backpack form factor), so depending on your bike setup, it could get close to your brakes / sprockets.Overall, I love this bag, and it has held up well during the 4 months I've had it.

I absolutely love my backpack
*Waterproofness update*If you happen to get caught in an Arizona monsoon storm that drops buckets of water on you, the backpack (+ rain cover) cover won't keep dry. The rain cover doesn't go all around the backpack, leaving the back exposed. Papers in my pack were wet and ruined, but the laptop (in separate compartment) was completely dry still. I think this is only an issue with LOTS of rain though (like 2" in 15 minutes). Still rating this backpack at 5 stars.*Update* after a few months of useI love this backpack even more than I did when I just got it. Regarding the stiff zippers, this is not a problem anymore now, the zippers just needed to be broken in to I suppose. I am amazed at how handy this backpack is in general, regardless of it being a pannier as well. I had to go to the tropics for a few weeks for work and actually used this as my travel/daypack as it holds shape really well, it is functional but at the same time looks stylish enough for important meetings. I was in a tropical downpour for about 5 minutes, without using the raincover, while I was under an umbrella, it turns out the backpack wasnt but all my content was 100% dry. I've been looking for a backpack pannier like this for a long time and happy I have finally found one! Now I really hope it stands the test of time and I'll be able to use it for many years to come.*end of update*I absolutely love my backpack. It goes up and down very easy (5 seconds), holds my laptop really well, plus it can be used as a very normal daypack as well. In practice I don't convert it to a backpack each day as it is too much hassle (but really it only takes 30 seconds, I'm just lazy), I just carry it in my office and only convert it if I really need to go somewhere.I was worried it would be a bit on the small side but it isn't at all. With my laptop in it, I still have plenty of room for a change of clothes and lunch. Also the outer pockets provide extra space (great to store cell phone for quick access) and water bottle holder. My only complaint on it really is that the zippers can be a bit cumbersome. They seem really durable, which is probably why, but they don't close very smoothly.Overall, completely worth the money!

good but not perfect
I have been commuting with this for over two weeks and my review is based on my experience so far.Von brought up two major issues I agree with - the laptop compartment has no padding on the bottom, requiring a separate sleeve. I am going to tear up a piece of neoprene from an old wetsuit and leave it in the bottom which is a silly hack for a $200 bag. I also had my laptop logic board spontaneously fail within a week of switching to this bag and I don't know if it was related to the inadequate shock protection this bag provides, but I can't rule it out. My fault for not using a sleeve but I've had regular backpacks with better built in sleeves that have protected laptops for years. As others noted the straps are too long and I also had to hack off 2" from the straps and reattach them with my sewing machine. As a very petite woman I am used to most products being poorly designed for me but if the straps are too long on me and too long on someone almost 6', then they are just too long for the average human, period. The plastic piece that gives the bag stiffness flexed and warped after my first few rides and seems to have settled back to sorta but not completely flat. The zipper corners on the front are too square and would close more easily if the shape were more rounded, but they open very far down on the bag making it easy to pack. The inside is also very well laid out and easy to organize with all the compartments. I could probably take it on an overnight bike camping trip, it holds that much. I was torn between the XL and the regular size and I don't regret sizing up even if I don't always fill it every day. I usually need my laptop plus a change of casual clothes, change of shoes, lunch, and stuff to shower at work (dopp + travel size microfiber towel) and all of that fits with room to spare since my clothes and shoes are smaller than average. The rack attachment mechanism is easy to use and feels very solid and I have no concern that it will still be fine after many years. Attaching the buckle on a rack is a little fiddly but otherwise the conversion of the straps works great. The fact that the rack attachment can be offset quite a bit helps with heel strike which is a nice feature not all other bags like this offer. Overall the materials and construction quality are very high, I think they just didn't think through a few of the finer points of the design to the degree you might expect for the price point, but it still seems to be best available in class if you want a convertible backpack and not a convertible messenger and you need the extra capacity.

Reliable and very useful
This is my second panier/backpack combo I've bought from 2 Wheel Gear. The design is brilliant and the quality is unmatched.

Great for laptop and one other thing (clothes or lunch - but not both)
Perfect size to take laptop and one other thing. It fits a change of clothes but a little tight if you also want to include a pair of shoes. Adding lunch on top of that gets really tight and would recommend the bigger size. I find myself also taking a backpack if I want to take shoes and lunch.Otherwise, seems to be well built and rides on the bike with no issues. Fell off once when I hit a curb with a little bit of speed.

THE BEST
i am not a paid reviewer or anything. This bag holds a ton of stuff, is super sturdy and waterproof. I've had it in the rain, the sand and the snow. And I am hard on my gear i throw it around. Not even a scratch on it yet. Easy to clip on and off the rack no tools needed. I use it as a daily backpack, super comfortable as is, and then just pop it on the bike whenever i like. Great side cupholder pockets!I haven't needed the dorky neon green raincover, which im not going to use lol.

Absolutely love this for work commute
I have been commuting with this bag for 2 weeks now. I really love it! The 30l size can hold my laptop, keyboard and mouse, work notes + work clothes and some snacks with extra space still left. Outside I bring a water bottle and travel coffee mug that nicely fit in the side pockets. It holds very well on my bike rack which is a 16mm tube (quite large). The conversion to backpack was the thing I was most afraid of.. I hesitated a while before purchasing because I thought the conversion would be a hassle. But it turns out it is really easy and takes litterally 30 seconds to do. I have to say the pack itself is a little heavy even empty but I don't wear it for long. Just from the bike locker to my office. Overall VERY happy with this pannier-backpack.

Perfect solution to all your commuting pannier/backpack woes!
After a lot of research looking for “the perfect” multi-use bag I stumbled upon this gem from Two Wheel Gear. I commute to work by bike and often stay overnight in town so needed an extra pannier. Up until now I had been using a traditional backpack to carry my work clothes and personal effects separate from all my bike and rain gear because I wanted to have a bag I could carry with me easily when I was off my bike. But biking with a backpack is so uncomfortable. This backpack/pannier is the perfect solution! The quality is incredible. Strong zippers, thick material and a very easy, quick conversion system from backpack to pannier. In fact this may become my new travel backpack as well! Some great little pockets for random little things so they’re not all thrown into “the great abyss” like a lot of other panniers. If you’re looking for something where you can easily go from bike to hike... you should absolutely consider this bag! Also comes with a great rain cover. A bonus that it’s a Canadian company that’s obviously put a lot of thought and care into their product! Thrilled with my purchase!
