AMES 2398700 NeverLeak Decorative Whiskey Barrel Hose Reel, 100-Foot Hose Capacity

My wife and I struggled paying $100+ for a hose reel and now that we have it I am glad we did. The reel is made of metal not plastic and it is sturdy and the frame almost looks like its powder coated. While installation was fairly easy and you could do it by yourself, a second pair of hands would be helpful. The installation requires you to “swing out” the reel and it makes it a little cumbersome to handle. All the necessary hardware was included, lags with nuts and washers for concrete and large wood bolts for wood walls. I used the lags for an installation into a concrete block wall. The only issue I had with the installation was the bolts were too long and when you closed the reel against the bottom bolt was hitting the cross member of the reel’s frame, keeping the reel from locking in place. A little hack saw work fixed that issue. The other issue was the instructions. The instructions were limited so if you need to know how to mount on the wall and parts to use, it’s very lacking in that area. The other item, and the reason I took a star off for installation is that the instructions say you need a 1/2 inch open wrench or 11/32. 1/2 is too small and so was the 11/32. The 9/16 worked fine. It also said a 10MM would work, I didn’t have one so I can’t comment on that. Once it’s installed it’s an awesome product. The reel rools out smoothly. I did you a little teflon tape on the inner and outer hose connection just to make sure it didn’t leak. Because of the way the inner connection is constructed, do no use a cheap grade of garden hose. I originally used a 5/8 inch home grade 100ft hose and it kinks at the connection and restricts the water flow a little. My recommendation is to use a commercial grade hose, maybe a 3/4 inch hose that will not kink up at the connection due to height of the inner connection from the reel. It’s a great product, looks awesome on my wall and if you don’t “cheap out” on the hose (if you can afford to spend $100 for the reel you can afford to buy a decent hose) the hose will not kink up and it makes for hassle free garden hose storage.

I bought this because I was tired of rolling this by hand. My wife loves to garden but doesn't like to put the hose back because it's heavy. So she would just leave the hose on the floor for me to pickup every day.I also wanted something that would look nice.This works extremely well. The construction is very solid. It looks like it's going to hold up very well.The fact that it can be positioned annd pulled from either side is a wonderful touch.Installation was simple, our house has brick, so you do need a drill bit and a good drill.I've had this a few months now and has stood up well with no issues. It gets used on a daily basis and so far no complaints.

We love this! We've been looking for a pivoting hose reel that was nice looking and useful. This is it. Our faucet is on the left side of the house front, but my potted plants are on the right side. This allows me to pivot the hose reel and just pull the hose in the direction I need it. It's the same with reeling the hose back in. I no longer pull all of the hose over to the front of the reel in order to reel it in.

Hoping for a long life out of this unit. It's made of metal, NOT plastic. Albeit very thin metal. It presents nicely on the wall and has two settings to bring it away from the wall. Comes fully assembled except the hose. The box has a nice mounting template you can cut out and use, that was cool. Came with two types of screws, one set for wood mount and one set for cement mount. My initial impression is good, hopefully it will hold up.

Very nice hose reel. Adds a nice touch to your front or backyard. Pivoting arm/Swivel feature is neat and come in handy if you use your water hose a lot. Durable material too. Better than those standard wrought iron hose holders.

Because the unit does not come with a template and the mounting holes in the steel frame are so small the unit is difficult to mount with the supplied hardware. I have been a construction professional for 45 years and I had difficulty getting the anchors drilled and the unit mounted because the tolerances are too close.I almost resorted to drilling out the steel .

It took 2 men to install one peace.Holes for the bar are 16" apart so it fits perfectly once it was figured out exactly where the stud was.The last part was to find a screw, to screw down the knob, or turn the handle. COULD NOT FIND THE SCREW.When I open it halfway and look at it, seems like the welding job was terrible and looks cockeyed.After the device was mounted it turned out I had to replace the faucet. My house is only 20 years old this summer. Just sharing my experience only had it since 8/22/2022.God bless, enjoy each day God gives you

Perfect food my NEW home.Big enough for 100 foot high pressure 5/8 hose.Easy food my wife to use. Roll out and return.Hangs on the wall and it looks great. Design is perfect for me.My wife absolutely loves it.
