Collins Gem French Dictionary (English and French Edition)

Bot this to update my French Computer vocabulary. Seems OK. Same Format as Prior Edition. Thicker so may have more and newer words which is why I got it. All lot of new usage and verbiage has been added to English in the past thirty years, so I wanted the French version as well.

This has grown in bulk since the last time that I bought one; but that is probably because the word count is much higher and due to inclusion of the very useful mid-section conversational guide. An excellent dictionary.

not the best book for a english to french dictonary because it is only one way. That is my sommery.Thank you

I bought this dictionary because I'm going to be having a French exam soon.It seems to do the job pretty great, and it's easy to find everything.The great majority of words required for the exams can be found on this dictionary, albeit not every single one. I've had 2 or 3 that weren't in the dictionary, but I haven't found these situations to be a huge problem as you can probably figure out similar words or understand from context.Its relatively small size means that you won't find specific words that you'll most likely never need for your exam, making it easier to find what you (hopefully) really need.If you are unsure and would like to have both speed and amount of words and are allowed to bring more than one dictionary, try using it together with a big dictionary. That way if a more niché word shows up and you got to know what it means, you have a backup.I recommend this dictionary for beginner to intermediate students of French

This dictionary works on my Kindle Android app but it has some trouble with words beginning with l' and d' and n' or s' which is an issue the default French dictionary does not have. As a dictionary itself though it's fine.

I have been a Collins gem dictionary user for decades and these little books just keep improving. Crammed with useful reference material it features a hard-wearing flexible plastic cover and should serve you well for years!

School asked for a pocket dictionary so bought the pocket edition, which is HUGE. So I tried this edition, which is half the size, might actually fit in a pocket! I checked a few pages - both editions have the same content, only this one is little and has smaller text. It's a winner!

Excellent and comprehensive content.However must be borne in mind that it is a small book and the script is correspondingly small.
